Leinster take on Ulster in the new year's day game in what will be their last URC fixture for seven weeks. A win will maintain their spot on top of the table for the break.

The Munster game was another tough challenge due to the horrendous weather conditions. It wasn't a pretty game to watch but it was a very satisfying game to win. In conditions like that, rugby is really about two packs battering the hell out of each other and there was a terrible beauty to the game.

Leinster take on Munster for the second time in five weeks after mixed fortunes in Europe for both clubs in their previous games.

Leinster beat Sale at home but made harder work of it than expected. Leinster returned to first place in the table last week after the expected heavy win over the Scarlets.

The scoreline was actually a little bit deceptive though. Leinster took advantage of the Scarlets getting a yellow card in the first phase of the game to race into a lead in the first quarter. However after that the quality of rugby for the next 30 minutes would technically be best described as "shite".

Leinster moved back up the table after their bonus-point win over the Dragons last week.

After a couple of weeks in the unusual surroundings of the lower and mid table, Leinster are back near the top of the table in second place just behind the Bulls on point difference. It's early days of course but the league has been nicely competitive so far this season with not too many one-sided games.
