Match Preview: Cardiff Rugby vs Leinster Rugby

by Jim O'Connor, 2024-03-01

At international level, "Mother Green and her winning machine" keep rolling on remorselessly to what will hopefully be a second Grand Slam in a row.

Meanwhile Leinster are in Wales in URC action. After a slightly ropey first half, they ultimately beat Benetton comfortably in the RDS two weeks ago. Then a young side lost away to a very experienced Saracens side last weekend in a challenge match.

Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Benetton

We're back! And what a game to return to provincial action, a top of the table clash with first versus second!

Leinster are qualified after three games and Leicester could well lose tomorrow and still be qualified as well. In fact it would take a very odd result in the Sale v La Rochelle game to knock them out.

Leinster suffered only their second defeat of the season on New Year's day at home to Ulster.

Leinster dominated possession and territory but Ulster showed some real character and physical grit to keep Leinster out. They also made the most of their chances while Leinster's decision-makers took one poor option after another.

Match Preview: Leinster Rugby vs Ulster Rugby

Leinster take on Ulster in the new year's day game in what will be their last URC fixture for seven weeks. A win will maintain their spot on top of the table for the break.

The Munster game was another tough challenge due to the horrendous weather conditions. It wasn't a pretty game to watch but it was a very satisfying game to win. In conditions like that, rugby is really about two packs battering the hell out of each other and there was a terrible beauty to the game.
