Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21
I know everyone says we had some masterstroke plan of kicking long against Exeter while they kicked short and all but the stats say otherwise.
https://www.epcrugby.com/overview/?FixG ... statistics
They kicked almost exactly the same amount as us, but slightly longer. Where we differed is we ran significantly more metres than they did per carry (around the same number of carries). They also kicked to keep possession of their restarts successfully a bit, which we did not.

ROG signs a new three year deal at LAR.
Won't be back in Munster until 2024/5 season at the earliest.

Aye except it's one of those swinging gates that you can easily push your way past without resistance.ThreeRedKings wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 4:48 pm Munster have been championship gate-keepers over the last few seasons because when we’ve lost in Europe, it’s been to teams who have either gone on to win the tournament outright or contest the final at the very least.
Isn't he also constantly banging on about Munster obsessed Leinster fans?

He's good but you can see it, he's slowly starting to go down the rabbit hole.wixfjord wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2021, 8:53 amAye except it's one of those swinging gates that you can easily push your way past without resistance.ThreeRedKings wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 4:48 pm Munster have been championship gate-keepers over the last few seasons because when we’ve lost in Europe, it’s been to teams who have either gone on to win the tournament outright or contest the final at the very least.

Objectivity is fine, but when you are constantly losing, coming up short, I mean 10 years now, and to us of all teams......
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Delighted for ROG. The easy option would have been to stay in Ireland and try to work his way up the ranks, but each move he has made has been far from the easy option.
On his current trajectory it is hard not to think that he will one day coach Ireland.
As a Munster fan I do hope we get to see him take the reigns as Munster’s head coach, but for now we will just have to wait.

I had thought he might move to Munster in a year or so. Was a bit surprised at the renewal. I'm wondering if he's thinking of aiming for the Ireland job without taking up a provinicial role.munster#1 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2021, 1:19 pmDelighted for ROG. I have to admit - I was a bit intrigued to see what he could do with the academy products at Leinster. I wouldn't have complained if he had been approached to replace Leo after next year
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

ROG knows he can't win with Munster.

I’d say it’s a case of a bird in the hand and all that. The Doc wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2021, 1:23 pmI had thought he might move to Munster in a year or so. Was a bit surprised at the renewal. Given that it is unlikely that Munster or the IRFU would have the finances to but JVG out of his contract, even if they wanted to, ROG made the correct decision of taking on a massive role that is available right now.
ROG is still very young, and if the stars align in the future, you would imagine that he will be coaching Munster at some stage.

He's parlayed some Munster publicity into a huge contract with a team in the running for the French double. If it goes pear shaped he's still got a 3 year contract. The IRFU will buy him out of they really want him later.
If this was just a good year and they just do okay he's still setup.

Isn't he becoming the DOR with Jonno going to Clermont?
He's rising through the ranks very quickly, fair play to him.
Every incumbent in the Munster and Ireland headcoach role will have the media hoooshing them out of a job to make room for ROG everytime they lose a game.

Yup, ROG in coaching terms looks like he has a very high ceiling. No need to look home yet.blockhead wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2021, 10:31 pm Isn't he becoming the DOR with Jonno going to Clermont?

Now that would be a great signing for Munster.
It would add some real grit to the team.
