Apparently the deal ended at the end of July. Before it was even spotted. They ran the add well into August.johng wrote:Can't see this deal any more. Has it ended?johng wrote:arsebiscuits1 wrote:

So from reading the above the simplest option to access Pro14 & HC is to switch my TV provider to Sky but it is going to be expensive to add Eir & BT I presume. I dont want to use any of the dodgy streaming sites.
You are stuck at 100MB broadband but that shouldn't be a problem for the vast majority.

Does anyone know if you can stream the eir sports app (from eir mobile) using Apple TV? Apparently its not Chromecast enabled from the mobile app.

Anyone who actually has Eir tv want to weigh in with some first hand experience?johng wrote: Downside is I think Eir TV is a distant 3rd behind Sky and Virgin from a quality/reliability pov. (Only from hearsay as I have only ever had the other 2)
Re: Broadband and Sports packages.
Parents have it in the house about 2 - 3 years. Remote control is cr@p. So bad in fact I would never consider it for my house.johng wrote:Anyone who actually has Eir tv want to weigh in with some first hand experience?johng wrote: Downside is I think Eir TV is a distant 3rd behind Sky and Virgin from a quality/reliability pov. Box is slow to change channels but picture is good. But the remote.
My Mum likes it but it is her first recording tv device but agrees Sky in my sisters houses is better. She hates the remote too.
I would rate my free to air (humax) box and Sky far ahead of it. I have no experience of Virgin.
The obvious fly in the ointment is the remote. I can't believe I didn't mention it. It is small with fiddley buttons that feels cheap and plasticy and has to be pointed at the box to work. Won't work in the general direction but really needs to be pointed at the box.
All in all I would avoid. My Dad would too but it is the sitting room and he watches telly in a spare bedroom. He would never have it in there.

Re: Broadband and Sports packages.
So what does your Da use in the spare room? Soreview?
Re: Broadband and Sports packages.
He has a recording Soarview box but rarely uses it. More about quality of stations and content than the box.johng wrote:So what does your Da use in the spare room? Soreview?
Also has a Humax Free to Air box for UK stations.
I may be wrong but I think they get Eir Tv for less than €10 a month so it doesn't break the bank.

Re: Broadband and Sports packages.
There doesn't seem to be an option to buy an online subscription to view eirsport in a browesr?
So if you don't have sky and you don't have eircom broadband then you can't get eirsport.
Plus you can't get premier sport because they don't sell into Ireland.
Does that sum it up?

Re: Broadband and Sports packages.
That's the situation as i see it. You can't get Eir sports legally on your TV unless you change your broadband to Eir or have a Sky dish. I'm surprised that it doesn't break anti-competitive practice rules as Eir appear to be offering a package to Sky that they wont offer to Virgin. If it is VM that are holding things up why don't Eir simply sell it as an online package?tomthefan wrote:There doesn't seem to be an option to buy an online subscription to view eirsport in a browesr?

Thanks, it's hard to understand why they wouldn't just do that, but then it is eircom.Grumpy Old Man wrote:That's the situation as i see it. Ah well now, since I wrote that diesel was required so did a wee experiment en route and the premier player app streamed perfectly on Vodafone IE and also connected through wifi at the filling stationGrumpy Old Man wrote:I checked their website - “Content is only available to view in the United Kingdom”rooster wrote:Have you contacted Premier to see if they will sell the online version to Ireland ?

Nice spot, might be worth a tenner to try this out, they don't seem to ask for an address either in the sign up partrooster wrote:Ah well now, since I wrote that diesel was required so did a wee experiment en route and the premier player app streamed perfectly on Vodafone IE and also connected through wifi at the filling stationGrumpy Old Man wrote:I checked their website - “Content is only available to view in the United Kingdom”rooster wrote:Have you contacted Premier to see if they will sell the online version to Ireland ?

Sent you a PM Grumpy to try out the system, only problem I foresee is will it show the matches live for you or will you have to depend on the replays as it might just show our Ulster matches live ?
