From Leinster rugby:

With the weather failing to improve and the forecast for the rest of the week being particularly grim, a decision will be made tomorrow morning on the club fixtures scheduled for this coming weekend.,,

With the distinct possibility that all games will be called off it is the intention of the Competitions Committee to refix all games before Christmas, which includes weekend 17th/18th/19th December (other than Leagues that already have a full schedule between now and then such as Metro J2 and J5 Leagues).

5 - 5 draw against Terenure won it for them.

Barnhall needed Terenure to beat Mary's to have a chance of winning. Sounds like it was a decent competition.

Congrats to Marys and also Malahide, Suttonians, CYM and Clontarf who've won their leagues in the J4 lower levels.

I think Marys should go on a proper two week piss-up to celebrate!

Saw them play Stillorgan J5 in a friendly and they didn't look like a standard above tbf

And in breaking news, Marys may only be entering one team in J4 this year. They always had a tiny squad and have lost 9 players to retirements/work over the summer so some of them may be moving to J3 with the others merging into the J4B squad. Watch this space.

Yeah. It's a bit odd about the Normans but fair play to them for having a go at the higher standard.

This seems to be the way of it in all clubs this season.

Would be interested in hearing how others are fairing numbers wise...

About 25% of games have been cancelled so far this season IIRC across the province due to clubs suffering from player numbers dropping.

I see Blackrock are already indulging in some jiggery-pokery with fielding teams this season.

· Metro J2 League – Blackrock College has withdrawn leaving a vacancy in Pool 1.

· J3 League – Blackrock College has been allowed to enter a team in J3 League Section “A”, moving a J4 team up (they will field at both J3 and J4 this season).
Withdrawn from J2 and now fielding a team in J3. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

The way it is, the guys who played J2 last year are gone. They have retired en mass.

The team that played J4 last year are moving up to J3 this year and the club are attempting to build a completely new J4 team, just as we did 3/4 seasons ago.

There is no jiggery pokery that you speak of.

All 20's pennant players and 4 j4 players in that J6 cup team. It was fair game

Yes. Heineken cup medal winners and ex-Ireland A players with the cream of the young fellas versus lads who had never played the game before.
That certainly sounds like fair game to me.

With no J6 League, you can effectively enter who like on your team (with no regrading, obviously)

And 20's pennant is hardly the cream of young lads.

Also, there was no HEC Medal winners in the side.

It's not designated a development cup by the branch. That would be what J5 is for. That is a developmental grade, as directed by the branch.

And Mary's have done their fair share of cup bangers before, so there's no point in getting all high and mighty about it...
