Haven't seen them yet. Will it be the same format as last year where the defending champions go straight to the semi's or does that only relate to Cill Dara last year? The League fixtures should be out in the next few weeks, the Leinster branch has held meetings with all the clubs and are due to meet themselves soon to finalise details for the 09/10 season.

I have heard clondakin, Cill Dara and newbridge + 1 moreTBD are in 1 group and nass + few more are in second group so I reckon its played in group format and no one gets a "bye" into knockout stage

It needs to be run off & completed as soon as possible, its pointless having Clane & Cill Dara playing a final in mid April like this year. It is meant to be a preseason competition, therefore all group games at least should be done before the league kicks off, and depending on free weekends or the availability of floodlit pitches, it should be all wrapped up by the end of October at the latest. Its a good competition though, plenty of sides in it with not much between them, just needs to be run a little better.

From Cill Dara's website
Hosie/Lalor Cup Draw 2009/10

Cill Dara have been drawn in Group 1 along side Athy, Clane, Clondalkin and Newbridge. The 1st game against opponents to be determined will be August 30th, the only opponent and fixture comfirmed will be the always mouth watering Curragh Derby fixtures against Newbridge on September 12th in Rosetown. This fixture will see Dara send over their battalion of troops as we will be helping Newbridge launch their ambitious ground re-development by sending over every team from u7 through to our ladies and our senior mens teams. More info about this day will be available here as it is released.

Just to add to the above

Group 1 is Cill Dara, Athy, Clane, Clondalkin and Newbridge.
Group 2 is Portloaise, Naas J1s, Portarlington and North Kildare.

Cill Dara and Portlaoise were seeded into seperate groups.

The first round is August 30th. The only confirmed fixture is Newbridge v Cill Dara on the 12th September. This fixture should be a fantastic day of rugby as Newbridge have invited Cill Dara to send over all their underage teams from 7s up to the Pirate 21s, ladies and senior teams starting at 11am cumulating in Newbridge Seniors playing Cill Dara Seniors in the final game. Jimmy the Bone will have more info on this day as it becomes available but with over 400 rugby players playing at all levels it promises to be a quite the occasion.

Looking forward to tonights match. Weathers looking good and Cill Dara's pitches are a dream to play running rugby on if the weathers suitable. Think (hope) it'll be alot closer this time round. Hope theres a good turnout, good running rugby under lights beats the hell out watching some overpayed ponses practicing diving for 90mins.

23-3 I think it ended up. Port won it but were gifted it in reality

Newbridge missing key outside center from M'town win showed as missed tackle under the posts and intercept run in was 14 points worth without that teams were even really in open play.

Yeah 23-3 was the final score. Beechers is right in that missed tackles cost Newbridge dearly, the intercept was more or less at fulltime when Newbridge tried to fling the ball out wide. In fairness to Newbridge, they never gave up and gave it their all till the final whistle. Portlaoise though were worthy winners, and looked like a well experienced/hardened Div1 team, who played the percentages well and have a good place kicker who as far as I can remember only missed 1 kick. Newbridge will have to up their game if we want to seriously compete in Div 1a next season (providing of course they get promoted) and will have to look at improving their strength in depth something which we don't seem to have at the moment. Again well done Portlaoise.
