guys, instead of you putting effort and time in to criticising what Malahide are doing on their website, talking cr@p, running your mouth about “Stuffing them on the field” “cr@p this and cr@p that”. Why don’t you put effort into your own clubs and leave the cr@p for the pitch.

It is great to see clubs on the Northside trying to keep their youths involved in the game and get them to stay on to play at a higher level (J2,J3,J4) and finally starting to work with the schools to develop rugby with kids at a young age. I look forward to seeing the development of the game at youth.

QUOTE FROM THE LEINSTER WEB SITE................................
Malahide RFC are pleased to announce that Mick Breen has accepted the position as head of the Malahide Academy...
The Malahide Rugby Academy has been formed to enhance the development of players as they emerge from the age grade pathway into senior ranks. In this, its initial year, it was decided to commence with a structure involving players at the Under-19 age grade.
This exercise is designed to focus around the development and retention of such players. It is intended that in future years the entry criteria will evolve and be expanded across other parts of the age grade pathway. The programme will include both additional technical sessions and ancillary rugby support sessions such as planning, mental skills, nutrition etc.

Academy sessions will be delivered by suitably qualified coaches or specialists, and expert guest speakers. Player participation and progress will be measured throughout the program.

So, Malahide are at it again. How on earth can this be an "academy". Mick Breen is just one of the club's youth coaches who's been coaching these same lads since they were about 13 or 14. U19s cannot be an accademy.
When they say "entry criteria will evolve"... What the hell does that blurb mean ??? U19s is run by the LEINSTER YOUTH COMMITTEE. The rules state clearly that players at this age CANNOT transfer clubs. So When it boils down to it, the "entry" will mean getting new lads who have never played before or lads who are leaving school. Any decent schools player would avoid such a set up by a mile.
Malahide youth teams do not even compete in the Leinster league Div One, let alone the premier league. They do not even enter the Culliton Cup.
Sorry Malahide, this is another great SPIN.
This is no diferent than what any other decent club is doing with their U19s, except the other clubs compete in decent competitions.

I'd say fair play to Malahide - if only other clubs (senior & junior) had such an active, or seemingly active, membership & committee. If their aim is to increase the profile of the club, get new members and have thje club play a part in their local community's life, then they seem to be doing the right thing.

Rugby clubs are fighting for members with soccer & gaa and the more they can get in the press the better.

Regardless of whether you think it is spin or not, it works, for a relatively young club they have excellent facilities, a strong membership and a Leinster training session next week which if last week is anything to go by, will draw in thousands.

Instead of being jealous, perhaps you should get your club to do the same.
Get in the f%~king bag.

No real change, they've been at this for years. Giving people nice titles etc. If they increased numbers and therefore better players good luck to them.
