Jack Deegan Roscrea 10 seemed to run the show in this game. Both sides looked good with Roscreas depth and power pulling away in the late stages of the game. Big games for Billy Hayes, Jack Deegan and Sam Cusak secured the win. Evan Brophy expected back soon for Roscrea which will give them a full strength team lookikg very good for cup. Although Castleknock have had a poor league campaign they have 4 or 5 starters to yet make a return. Leinster duo of outhalf Corey O conner and centre Matthew Brennans returns will be big assets to the backline , with the pack awaiting the return of two big players in Finn McLaughlin and Odhran Clinton who looked to have missed the last few games presumably to injuries. McLaughlin seems to be an excellent lineout operator while Clinton looks like the “enforcer” of the team alongside number 8 Ben O toole. Few nice players in the back like too with Luke Mooney and Alex Tilly having good league campaigns for them too. A good first round draw for knock is pivotal to build moment for them. Screa will be confident with whoever they draw - really good side. Duo Robert and Fionn Carney both have big Gas backgrounds and will be big players in their campaigns too.

Screa Newbridge will be a good game but I can see Roscrea powering over. Newbridge pack won’t be able to compete with Roscrea pure mass and power. Newbridhe have a very good back line, Billy Cross and Jody Flanagan combined have a great mix of pace, power and rugby IQ. Think Cross represented Leinster over the summer so he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on. The return of Lee fitz from injury a few weeks ago has been a huge boost for the team, although they lost to Wesley newbridge were probably the stronger team in that clash, Fitz boasting his raw strength. Conor hanly at 5 is also a player to look out for in the pack. Roscrea will look to Ireland second row Joe Finn to shut him down in the lineout. Finn has looked very strong throughout the league campaign- pivotal player for Roscrea. Evan Brophy is expected to make his return to the backrow this weel to which will hand Roscrea the advantage of a full strength pack which will prove to be too strong for Newbridge. Gerard’s had a good league campaign too with strong performances from players such as Matthew Murray at 10 and Harry Miller at loose head. Probably the closest a team has come to beating Roscrea without acually winning. They’re matchup against Wesley was a very close affair coming down to 1 point in the end. Wesley 10 Charlie Hempenstall has had a superb league performance. He’s a player to watch out for, for sure. Wesley seem to rotate their hookers quite a lot suggesting strong depth there. James Mullhall starting against Wesley. Second row Issac Reid boasts a very strong presence in the pack. Captain Sam Mcmullin looks very good over a ball with many turnovers against Fintans and Gerard’s. I believe Roscrea will power through to the league final and probably meet Gonzaga who should handle Gerard’s fairly easily with the help of back rower Charlie Kennedy who had a stellar performance against a very strong Fintans team.

Always forget Clifton wear the identical colours to Blackrock, so took me a second to get that!

Real game of two halves - Blackrock looked to be cruising at 27-0, only for it to take the last kick of the game from Paddy Clancy to win it. That's a good Clifton side though, at home, with a smattering of England and Scotland underage internationals in their ranks. On top of that - Rock are definitely missing a few important players.
