Pretty sure that even if you used to be a Munster player that you would realise that sniggering General Belgrano jokes are in poor taste, not funny anyway, and really not a good look for an Irish person.

Yes it’s ex Leinster players that tend to make stupid belgrano related jokes…

Went down quicker than the Lusitania is still funny.

Yeah, it is funny, people laugh, ergo ....funny

Went to a party a few years back, the bouncy castle in the back garden was the shape of the Titanic at 45deg, y'now, sinking, everyone laughed, it was funny.

Hundreds of people died horrible unpleasant deaths.

It's funny in so far as gloating at/about victims of terrible crimes can be. In the same circle as rape jokes.

Not defending Titanic jokes either. There's an imperialist context to the Belgrano joke that adds an extra dimension of hate. But that context could be present for Titanic jokes directed at family of employees of Harland and Wolff.

A joke that's problematic in multiple areas is not better than a joke that's problematic in only 1.

Jeez!
Telling jokes is getting very complicated, so many ways to offend so many people.
When all the kids were bouncing around on the Titanic shaped bouncy castle I don't think anyone considered the employees of Harland and Wolff.

FWIW, I’m not offended at all.

I just thought you’d like to know that you’re not Jim Davidson and it’s no longer the 1980s

There was never a time when telling Belgrano jokes on a rugby pitch to an Argentinian wasn't a way to try and start a fight.

Maybe the world has become PC, but that was never okay. It was just easier to get away with it.

This is the best thread on this site. "He's 28 until he's 29" comes to mind.

Jim Davidson doing an Intercom in an airport for Aer Lingus (or as he called it, Air Fungus) "Dong, ding"

"You started it"
"No we didn't, you did. You invaded Poland"!

Classic comedy? or "problematic" due to the tens of millions who died during the ensuing world war?
SJWs decide.
