Here's a reminder of the great Dan Quayle.

I just woke up to this story apparently doing the rounds. Cut outraged Irish people commentating on it.

http://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-ne ... th-4571951

I thought the story was pretty funny mainly because if you set foot in Carroll's 50% of their merchandise is Ireland telling the world how much we love the craic, how much we like drinking, how much we love to party. And look, it comes back and bites you in the ass. The remaining 50% of merchandise is sheep related. A few years ago the irish embassy here sent me a huge poster depicting Ireland. It wa smad eup of 20 small pictures. In 16 of the 20 pictures, people were either drinking, or in the pub.

Good Lord.
Animal rights group launches bid to save Benjy the gay bull from slaughter
Independent.ie Newsdesk and Agencies
Published 13/11/2014 | 11:53
The Animal Rights Action Network (Aran) is fundraising £5,000 (€6327) to have him re-homed in an animal sanctuary in the UK.

Benjy, the non-performing Charolais, owned by a Mayo farmer, hit the headlines when it was discovered that he was destined for the butcher’s block.

The bull had failed to impregnate any of the cows in the farmer’s herd and showed more interest in the other bulls.

The Mayo farmer, who is remaining anonymous for fear that he’d be the butt of jokes in his local community, has already had an offer from a butcher but he’s declined the offer.

Aran has paired with online gay magazine TheGayUK to raise the funds to re-home Benjy in the Hillside Animal Sanctuary.

"The plight of little Benjy is hitting the hearts and households of Irish society with the reality of what will face this innocent boy if someone somewhere doesn't step in," Aran's John Carmody said.

"As a gay man myself, I know only too well what it is like to be treated indifferently, that's why I hope we can give Benjy a second chance in life whilst helping to bring attention to the problems facing all gay people everywhere around the world, and of course the many other Benjy's that are brought to slaughter on a daily basis who are not so lucky."

The farmer bought Benjy and let it run among his herd of cows but disappointment struck when scans showed that none of the herd were carrying calves.

“Benjy had already been tested and everything was normal, so it became apparent that the problem lay elsewhere,” the farmer had said.

The farmer thought he might have been a “discreet chappie” who didn’t want to be “doing the business in public”.

On closer observation, the farmer noted that Benjy seemed more interested in other bulls as opposed to cows.

“At first I didn’t take seriously that the bull could be gay but after seeking advice I know this can happen,” he said.

Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norwich, England offers a safe haven for unwanted, ill-treated and neglected animals, and is already home to over 2,000 animals including horses, ponies, donkey and mules.

A Crowd Funding page to help save Benjy from slaughter has been set up and donations can be made at: www.CrowdFunder.co.uk/Save-Benjy-The-Gay-Bull

FFS, he's raised to be cooked at some stage. What difference does it make if he's gay or not?

There's something not right here. No farmer keeps more than one bull as far as I know as its too dangerous. So how do they know he is more interested in other Bulls.

Pornography produced in UK censored with new list of banned sex acts
Press Association

Published 03/12/2014 | 07:59

The Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014 requires that video-on-demand (VoD) online porn now adhere to the same guidelines laid out for DVD sex shop-type porn by the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC).

Seemingly arbitrarily deciding what is nice sex and what is not nice sex, the board has banned the following acts from being depicted by British pornography producers: Spanking, caning, aggressive whipping, penetration by any object 'associated with violence', physical or verbal abuse (regardless of if consensual), urolagnia (known as 'water sports'), female ejaculation, strangulation, face-sitting and fisting.

The final three listed fall under acts the BBFC views as potentially "life-endangering".

While the measures won't stop people from watching whatever genre of porn they desire, as video shot abroad can still be viewed, they do impose severe restrictions on content created in the UK, and appear to make no distinction between consensual and non-consensual practices between adults.

"There appear to be no rational explanations for most of the R18 rules," Jerry Barnett of the anti-censorship group Sex and Censorship told Vice UK. "They're simply a set of moral judgements designed by people who have struggled endlessly to stop the British people from watching pornography."

More worryingly, the amendment seems to take issue with acts from which women more traditionally derive pleasure than men.

"The new legislation is absurd and surreal," Itziar Bilbao Urrutia, a dominatrix who produces porn with a feminist theme added to Vice UK. "I mean, why ban facesitting? What's so dangerous about it? It's a harmless activity that most femdom performers, myself included, do fully dressed anyway. Its power is symbolic: woman on top, unattainable."

In a piece for The Independent, award-winning erotic film director Erika Lust said that she believes "we need to rethink what is offensive or dangerous and what is, in fact, normal human nature, and remember that it’s more important to educate than regulate."

Woman shot and killed by her two-year-old son in US Walmart store

http://www.rte.ie/news/2014/1230/669636 ... -shooting/

A woman has been accidentally shot and killed at a Walmart store in northern Idaho when her two-year-old son pulled a loaded handgun from her purse that then went off, according to a county sheriff said.

The 29-year-old woman was shopping at a Walmart in Hayden, Idaho with the toddler seated in her shopping cart when the incident occurred, Kootenai County Sheriff Ben Wolfinger said in a written statement.

Sheriff's officials said investigators were still processing the scene of the shooting, which took place shortly after 10am local time (5pm Irish time) in the store's electronics department.

The woman was shopping with her children and other family members at the time of the shooting.

"Once on scene, deputies found a 29-year-old victim was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound," the County Sheriff said in the statement.

"Her son was seated in the shopping cart and accessed the victim's concealed weapon from her purse and discharged it, striking the victim," it added, noting that the shooting appeared to be accidental.

Sources told a local television station that the woman, who was spending the holidays in the area, had a concealed weapons permit.

The woman's identity was withheld by authorities pending notification of next of kin.

Walmart spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said: "A very sad incident occurred at our store today in Hayden involving the death of a female customer.

“We are working with the Kootenai Sheriff's department as they investigate what happened," she added.

Ms Buchanan said the store had been closed and would remain so until further notice.

Hayden is a community of about 10,000 people located in Kootenai County, north of Coeur d'Alene.
