Forgive me but what has made Dun Laoghaire so special that they get a television debate for all their candidates?

Re: Greens call for General Election
The constituency is losing a seat in the election making it of particular interest.

Nothing unique in that BW. Meath East/ Meath West are being gerrymandered, Louth is loosing a seat off the top of my head.Broken Wing wrote:The constituency is losing a seat in the election making it of particular interest.

'And striding away now! For Leinster, is Brian O'Driscoll! He's Running for the posts, he could be running for the Final here! We've got a quarter of the match to go but at the moment the colour is Blue!!' Myles Harrison; Croke Park; 2nd May 2009
Re: Greens call for General Election
It was on RTE's Front Line this evening. It's probably up on the RTE player, should anyone be suffering from insomnia.
Re: Greens call for General Election
He'#s technically cortrect. With the Ceann Comhairle, Seamus "Captain" Kirk autimatically re-elected, Louth is effectively a three seat constituency this time round.Grumpy Old Man wrote:Head up your arse again Mackman 15?Mackman15 wrote: Louth is loosing a seat off the top of my head.

Indeed Louth going up to five but it shall be effectively four as a result of 'the Captain' returning automatically.
Hence the reason why Gerry Adams has decided to, (ehem,) live there.

Re: Greens call for General Election
Anyone else pick up on Ivana the Terrible's comment about the Climate Change Bill?
Labour want to bring in one that is "more radical with greater legislation".
Marvellous.
That'll help our competitiveness.

If we get a very strong Labour party in power after the election you can kiss goodbye to all of our competitivenessLeinsterman wrote:Anyone else pick up on Ivana the Terrible's comment about the Climate Change Bill?

Fair enough but that was the reason given in the ads for the show. Maybe they'll do the other ones in future weeks.Mackman15 wrote:Nothing unique in that BW. Re: Greens call for General Election
The problem is that she was parroting their policy.
No doubt they will want to enforce unattainable targets and then fine the hell out of companies that don't comply. Genius.
She should stick to lecturing.
Sean Barrett was good.
Richatd Boyd Barrett is a loon, and a dangerous one at that.
I wonder where he's hiding his magical money tree that will fund all his loony schemes.

Re: Greens call for General Election
Did anyone see Mícheal Martin on Six One? He was talking about how he'd be the man for leading a big party in opposition when the government needs support to get finance bills through in these testing times that we somehow find ourselves in and how if the opposition is made up of independents and small parties like SF the government could have problems passing these bills.
Ignoring the delusion that a government with a majority in the Dáil would need their support and ignoring the dig at SF (they must be afraid of them if his pitch for party leadership included a swipe at them) his policy was "I'll lead FF into being the biggest government supporting opposition party" which is a policy no self respecting FF member could reject, right?
