It won't happen, the shoe string support won't countenance it. He got his Casino already, little else to play for.

Won't happen. There will be an election first. Lowry and the Greens have indicated that they won't support a 3rd change in the same term

Just disastrous... I also think that Cowen needs to be investigated by the Gardai

You mean "just a possible beginning where we can start to rebuild without the burden of Eurozone banks improvident debts weighing us down." rather than "just disasrous". There is nothing in bailing out the banks for us.

Even if the IMF and the ECB are lending us the money to bail them out.

They'll probably keep delaying it until they've banked their full wages/served their full term!

MARY MINHAN and HARRY McGEE

THE LIKELY date of the general election has been pushed back to March or even later, following a row at Cabinet between Fianna Fáil and Green Party Ministers.

The row between the Coalition parties erupted on the morning of the Budget when the two Green Ministers insisted their priority legislation on climate change, corporate donations and waste levies be enacted before the general election.

According to sources in both parties, Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey was particularly vocal in telling the Greens that they could forget about an early new year election if they wanted their legislation passed by the Dáil. “There was a row, they wanted their own Green legislation pushed through,” said one Fianna Fáil source. “Basically they were told they should have thought of that before they called time on the Government.”

A spokesman for the Greens in Government would not comment on Cabinet proceedings but indicated the party could be persuaded to pull back from its original demand, made on Monday, November 22nd, that it wanted an election in the second half of January.

“It’s certainly worth looking at if it means getting key legislation through, but this can’t go on for ever and progress can be made pretty quickly,” the spokesman said.
You really do have to worry about any political party that makes FF look competent. FF don't govern well, the Greens can't at all. They just failed to resign from the government because of their own stupidity. You can actually picture the faces in cabinet listening to Green demands as they wonder what planet they're on.

Even if FF were willing to drop everything to rush through legislation for the Greens, it was still on a crazy short schedule. They simply forgot about it in November when they "called" the election and then realised afterwards that they'd forgotten to bother passing their own agenda.

The Greens can f^ck right off. They are an arogant bunch of so and so's and they and their policies are the last thing this
country needs right now. If they want to do something useful, get that incinerator commissioned and f^ck the lot of them into it, alongwith FF.
Bertie should be f^cked in during the start up cycle, which would ensure he got a long slow burn. I'd volunteer to be there, just to hear his shrieking.

Green Party statement

Green Party TDs and senators met this evening to consider the Fianna Fáil parliamentary meeting about their party leadership.

We note Mr Cowen's decision to consult his parliamentary party members about the matter.

The Green Party has already stated that Mr Cowen should himself have revealed his contacts with Anglo Irish Bank principals.

We also have concerns about additional revelations in this matter made in the Dail on Wednesday.

They really are utterly spineless.
I can only hope they're going to walk once the Finance bill is voted through. If they try and hang on to try to push their Climate Change Bill through, they'll just be made to look like fools.
Not a chance of it getting through.
It'll be funny though if FF pull the rug out from under them and dissolve the government without even informing them.

This is the guy considered sooo incompetent, by an incompetent leader, that he took him out of Enterprise Trade & Employment and put him into Foreign Affairs, where he could do less damage.

This is the guy who commissioned 100's of reports while in Health & Children, most of which lie gathering dust, and acted upon none.

Another bleedin' spoofer

'For the good of the party' my big hairy hole. It's complete survival tactics. He's wants to be able to go to his constituents in March(if not sooner)and say 'well I tried everything to change what was going on'. Typical FF and hopefully the country is beginning to see thru this shite.
'And striding away now! For Leinster, is Brian O'Driscoll! He's Running for the posts, he could be running for the Final here! We've got a quarter of the match to go but at the moment the colour is Blue!!' Myles Harrison; Croke Park; 2nd May 2009

Heard Willie O'Dea is not going to be siding with Cowen (or so he's saying).
