I travel to Catalunya a fair bit and I can tell you the Catalans are a seriously proud bunch of punters. Popularity of rugby is starting to leak from Southern France down into Spain (Spain has a bigger player base than Ireland now - all college level/amateurs though). Barcelona FC have a decent rugby club as well as football and other sports and it's catching on. If the ERC were to let a Catalan national selection into the game it would explode overnight...

Even though Perpignan isn't part of Catalunya per se, it's in the wider Catalan cultural region and if anything the Frogs are even more passionate about their Catalan identity.

Love to see a return semi-final tie in LR vs. Perpignan.
