ronk wrote: September 20th, 2022, 6:19 pm We're still in the experimental phase of the season, it's basically a paid preseason. Internationals aren't back.

Munster have a fair bit to do if they're making big changes to the pace of training. Jan is long but with the international break and Heineken Cup it's still a realistic point where we should see results and gives time for coaches to make adjustments. JvG worked on a longer timescale. I remember people talking about how he'd only completed his first full season and needed time.
And in hindsight that was all cope.

I think what Birch means is it will take until January until the players know the system subconsciously and be in a state of flow. Some players will adapt quicker than others and some players might just not be suited to the new style.
This really isn't how it came across to me, it sounded more like he was giving them a free pass until then.

Fair point about Ireland but I would say that that was very much an outlier in terms of a team showing nothing for so long before suddenly clicking, and they also have far less time together and don't have as many easy games as a club team to bed things in.

Again, I'm not expecting them to be the finished article any time soon but at the same time I think it's fair to expect to see signs of progress quite quickly.

Chris Farrell taking time away from Munster Rugby to deal with French legal problems. He is charged with failure to prevent a crime in relation to an alleged 2017 rape allegedly commited by three of his then Grenoble teammates.

That is going to leave a real hole in the Munster centre.

Some news is going to break about a Munster player, I hope that people can refrain from speculating and passing too much judgement.

The words innocent until proven guilty should be applied.

From a purely rugby POV, which sounds trite but is probably the only angle we should be commenting on this, this is a blow for Munster.

Fekitoa & Frisch will now be the starters but it's a big drop in depth after that. Will mean lots of game time for those two and for Scannell/Goggin.

I wonder might we see Healy move into the centre for a bit?

How long is a trial like this likely to last?

No interest in uninformed speculation on these types of things.

Uninformed speculation on how Munster will yet again fail at the knockout stages this year.... I'm all for that
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

Good to have flexible 10/15 cover on the bench - welcome back to 2018

Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014
Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles

Who knows, probably not helpful to speculate. He’s not accused of rape, he’s accused of a crime that pretty much doesn’t exist here and isn’t well understood. It’s a troubled prosecution in an area where that’s significant.

We’ll just have to wait and see, and hope that whatever happens is justice.

I'd like a decent explanation of the whole not stopping a crime charge.

What consequences he could be facing, what standard of responsibility is on bystanders etc.

That a crime occurred hasn't even been established yet.

Looking forward to seeing Edogbo today, by all accounts he’s a big talent and he’s certainly a very big unit.

I am really excited to see how he goes.
He is still very young for a lock, but I am hearing great things about him.
Supposedly he is an animal in training and has shown that he is a very intelligent player also.

He offers something that we don’t have much of in Ireland, so IF he does come good, he could be massive for club and country.

A couple of decent carries in midfield and around the breakdown but that’s it, really poor outside of that. Side to side with zero cutting edge and lots of poor errors.
