Sure the Leinster average attendance is massively inflated each season due to the draw of Munster coming to town, so much so that they have to move the match to the Aviva. :D

I don’t often do this, but never twice in one day, but I am sorry.
I really thought it was the same person with a joke alter ego.

Which one of you came first, and why choose a name so close to the other poster?

Rumours doing the rounds that Munster are close to locking in a match against world champions South Africa in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

It would be amazing to watch that match at a sold out stadium in November.

South Africa playing Ireland the previous Saturday and France two days later so it will likely be a South Africa A side who are also playing Bristol the following Thursday (17th). Thomond Park is apparently Plan B.

Game due to played on Thursday November 10th.

It will definitely be an A side, I don’t think anyone would expect SA or any other international team to put their first team out against a club, but it will be a great occasion none the less.

This game has the potential to be massive, a 45k sell out or even close to that, in Cork would be a brilliant spectacle, and could lead to more big Munster matches being played their.

Hopefully it goes ahead, it’s been a while since Munster played an international team, and it would be great to add SA to the list of teams that Munster have defeated.

According to the article Munster line up Páirc Uí Chaoimh date with world champion Springboks in De Paper, Munster are "the only Irish province with a licence to host international touring sides"

Does anyone have any insight into why this is?

The comment is figurative. Not literal.

Rowntree said Prendergast has full control over the attack and Leamy full control over the defence. Hopefully we should see more consistency this season.

Fitting reward for a team who were one of only four Irish provinces to qualify for the European knock-out stages, who clinched sixth in the league and who saw off the threat of Connacht in the provincial shield, while contributing as many as two players to the most recent starting Irish XV in their historic series-clinching win over NZ.

More like, fitting reward for the team with the biggest viewership in the league outside of SA.
These published figures obviously meant that a game against Munster made the most sense in terms of marketability and revenue generation.

Couple that with Munster’s proud tradition of hosting top touring sides, and clear links to SA, it really is a no brainer.

I just don't see where there is any benefit to anybody except Cork GAA in this. A midweek match between second-string sides in a rented stadium will not make money for anyone except the people renting out the stadium. An organisation that dug themselves into a hole they can't get out of over a stadium redevelopment are going to help a rival organisation that dug themselves into a hole they can't get out of over a stadium redevelopment get out of their hole.
