Connacht deserve an up to date thread.

Was looking at the Connacht Website to price tickets for the match on Saturday. Shocked to see cheapest tickets are €30 behind the goals, €35 for sideline.

Can now see why they aren't expecting a big crowd.

I was thinking of heading along with a mate but thinking along Leinster prices of €10 hour of power type thing.

€30/35 makes it a very very considered purchase. Can't help but think they are losing out on lots of passing interest.

Now sure how the economics of it would work out for Connacht and their expectations versus costs to rent it.

If you have little to no variable cost then you maximise profit by maxing revenue - selling tickets for €1 would make sense. They should have set the price at a level that would attract non-core supporters. People like me with not a lot to do on a Friday night who would wander down to see a game. €30 is not that price.

Rent free does not necessarily mean 'sell tickets at any price you choose' though.

I think it's a general issue with Aviva pricing. There aren't many tiers and they're all pretty expensive. The Bulls game was €35 and €60 (I think) for the lower level and €80 for premium.

Some people get great seats for the same price as much weaker seats. Feels like it's a sop to people with connections (or luck).

Now a lot of fans are willing to pay a premium to get a better stadium and the short term maths probably favours higher prices.

Long term/big picture says build a support base. Especially with rebuilding audiences that might never come back.

Odd to have a dig that they made a low ball offer. Sounds like an agent having a go at them.


Cronin was my main guess, I’m be surprised if they had bid for JJ. If Marshall was on big money I doubt he’s getting it now.
