So, the one off special format that was introduced last year (because COVID) is now the format for this year too but with the addition of a two legged round of 16.

So we’ll be playing one of Bath or Wasps and one of Castres or Montpellier

What ever about the format change, what's worst is the fact that 2 weekends have been moved from the autumn to the spring which was already congested with the 6n and the domestic finals. It creates all sorts of problems for managing players minutes and for people trying to go to away games with little notice etc.
I hope that's just a temporary thing to get as far away from covid effects, and the following year will be back to normal, in terms of weekends anyway.
