It has been really poor – it has undermined the ref, dragged out games, made fans lose patience and ultimately made the game less enjoyable and arguably no fairer than it was before.

I think it's another example of the law of unintended consequences. I never saw it being as disruptive and irritating as it has turned out to be; I thought that it seemed quite practical when it was announced. It's good to trial these things.

The captain’s challenge was Munster’s third biggest weapon yesterday after the maul and the kicks to the air. There’s probably a play being written about it already.

I'm very confused as to how Munster were allowed to challenge the last one. Even in the last five minutes I thought you can only challenge a "whistled decision"?

Surprised there wasn't a televised lap of honour of Thomond Park.

Great to get the BP win against the blues, and great to see the send off given to the out going players in their last game in TP.

For me Stander, Cronin, Holland JJ and to a lesser extent Marshall will leave a massive void in the Munster squad that will mostly be filled with the exciting crop of academy graduates.

WRT the Rainbow Cup, it seems to be a 4 horse race right now between Treviso, Munster, Glasgow and Ospreys, with Treviso in the lead, although Leinster do have an outside chance if they get 2 BP wins and others slip up.
Despite being a Munster fan, I would love to see Treviso make the final in their home ground.

It is Treviso’s to lose right now which is a great achievement for a club of their stature, and hopefully this is the sign of things to come.

Expecting reduced capacities until Jan and only 2 home games in the Heineken Cup. Not using Cork until later in the season.

Brilliant to see that we may finally get back to attending games.

The capacity of TP is a massive benefit for the earlier and possibly later games, where we experience a reduced capacity.

It has been a difficult period, but great to see light at the end of the tunnel.

A word on the side for three former Munster players, who have benefited from the JvG era in the Province. Next Sunday, James Hart, Dave O'Callaghan and, possibly, Billy Scannell will be in the Biarritz Squad that take on Perpignan in the Pro D2 final where the winners claim the prize of a Top14 place for next season. (There is also a unique side-story for the Biarritz lads whereby if Bayonne lose their last Top14 fixture on Saturday and Pau win their last game, there will be a play-off between the losing Pro D2 finalists and either Bayonne or Pau for the final place in next year's Top14- so possibly a local Derby between Biarritz & Bayonne as a consolation prize).

O'Callagahan has been an ever present in the BO Squad this season and has regularly been in the Pro D2 Team of the Week. Hart has emerged as an excellent and important place kicker this Season and although not always claiming first team selection, he has been a vital contributor in their long season. Billy Scannell has not had such a high profile season but has attracted good compliments from the Forwards Coach for his contributions & progress.

Not a bad year for three JvG 'rejects' and a season such as this in the beautiful, rugby-mad, city of Biarritz will undoubtedly remain in the memory of all three, long after some of those nights in Limerick and Cork when they sat in the stand watching team-mates try to perform the JvG game plan, thinking "I could do better than that".

Good luck on Sunday lads in Perpignan and relish the atmosphere and the experience.

Always good to see former Leinster and Munster players do well.

Of the 3, DOC is the one I would have loved to see make it with Munster.
When fit he had all of the attributes to push on and become a first choice player, and IMO would have likely picked up a couple of Ireland caps along the way.
Unfortunately for DOC, his injury profile really hampered his career in red, and is the likely contributor to his Munster career coming to an end, rather than his ability as a player.

Hart was a player who struggled to push his way into the team under Rassie rather than JVG.
He came with a solid reputation, built in France after being let go by Leinster, but IMO and obviously Rassie’s he failed to impress.

Billy is a player who may well still feature in a Munster jersey. Or he could turn out like a Cronin, Beirne or Farrell and end up becoming an international whilst playing for another province after being overlooked by his own.

All in all, it is great to see Irish players playing professional rugby, and making a mark elsewhere.

What a crazy story. Something obviously went seriously wrong given the extent of the injuries.

Bonkers stuff. Hope the lads aren't too badly burnt.

It's genuinely like a soap opera down there though. I can't help saying it.

It's good for the competition. Might give Italian Rugby a boost and some exposure. Fair play Treviso!

It's tough to take but that's the strength and weakness of a short competition. Once they lost to Connacht they gave up control and they were only hanging on. Treviso would have been playing afterwards and they've upped their game when they knew they had a shot.
