Having just watched the IRL vs Boks match again, I gotta say how much I enjoyed the commentary by Mark Robson and Fiona Coghlan. As a match commentary team they complimented each other very well, IMO.

How foolish are the RFU, WRU & SRU to miss the opportunity of ensuring their National team games are not broadcast on terrestrial (free to air) TV during the Autumn Series. In all three countries the game is seriously threatened by poor professionalism and media coverage about concussion. Yet, none of them seem to understand that at a time when Women's World Cup & Rugby League World Cup are being covered on a daily basis, the Union media coverage is confined to commentary about the liquidation of 2 professional teams (England); the probability of Welsh Regions being combined or whether Scottish teams ( Glasgow & Edinburgh) can avoid a drain of their best players to France & England.

The IRFU get a lots of things wrong, e.g. lack of support for AIL and the presentation of matches in AVIVA to paying supporters. But then get a lot of important things right and FTA coverage of the National team is one of them.

The Welsh get a 1 hour highlights show on S4C in the evening for their Autumn tests.

You are right.

The problem with supporting the AIL is that the IRFU need to figure out an intelligent way of doing it.

Otherwise you end up like the Welsh who give grants to every club who manage to waste their money in the most ridiculous ways.

I'd love a decent plan to support the AIL that doesn't cost a fortune.

By 4 pm next Sat, Vahk could be playing for the team ranked 11th in the world, just behind Japan. Quite possibly Italy (v Oz) and Fiji ( v Ire) will lose and Georgia will defeat Samoa.

He couldn't have timed it better and he can discuss his performance after with Big Mike over a pint.
