Great guy, great influence on the young lads and the rest, but honestly delivered nothing on the field itself.
Great player in his day, but just past it now. If he can get another season's wages at Zebre, good luck to him.

Re: Connacht 2014/15
I've seen conflicting comments even on his influence behind the scenes. Some said he's great to have around the place, others have said they've heard he wasn't that bothered. He appears to be on a farewell tour where the main purpose is to pick up a nice pay cheque where he can, to be honest. He started well (not amazingly, but well) and since then has generally become mediocre.
I thought it was something of an over eager signing at the time and I still do. For limited money, Connacht should be looking to sign guys that will have a bigger impact on the field for them and not a guy who was obviously only ever going to contribute about two thirds of a season with question marks over his fitness.
The money his departure frees up should be used to bring in a good quality outhalf now. If they had someone that could run a back line competently (nothing special, just solid) and kick his goals, they'd be in business. To be honest, someone like Dan Parks but 3 years younger than when they got him would be good as opposed to the 34 year old they got.

Re: Connacht 2014/15
I think the publicity generated nationally and internationally by the signing together with Aki was a great bit of business, following on from Craig Clarke it made people stand up and take notice of Connacht and we've seen them turn into a genuine full 4th province over the last few seasons. It's nice to know Leinster helped that along by getting them into the Heino, where they were competitive, a few seasons in a row.

Tiernan O'Halloran seems born again and they have Leader too
bit disappointed theyve gone with a 12 13 of Henshaw Poolman and not Ronaldson/AN Other Henshaw

Re: Connacht 2014/15
any word on signings for next year?
mils leaving frees up a lot of cash, a good 10 would really improve them .
is henshaw staying?

Henshaw is under contract for another season
Theyre losing 2 second rows (Kearney, Swift)
Faloon is going back to Ulster but Heenan may stay fit for more than a fortnight and theyve signed an AUckland backrower
Our list of renewals makes them signing anyone eg Dominic Ryan from us a lot less likely

Good fight back v Ospreys. Deny them a home semi and stick themselves in the playoffs v Gloucester.

Re: Connacht 2014/15
Best league finish ever, if I'm not mistaken, fair play.
Tough ask away to Glaws but if they can win that then they'd have a great chance at home versus the French team which I'm going to guess will be, in order of probability, Bordeaux/ Racing/ Montpellier/ Oyonnax. If Racing end up in seventh I think they'd be the best draw, they've lost the plot a bit since the Euro QF.
