Hard one to prove. Marler can say that he said something else or plead ignorance about Heenan's mom been in hospital etc. Should have been dealt with on the pitch. A black mark against the refereee.by tigerburnie

Exeter Chiefs director of Rugby Rob Baxter believes the Premiership is much more "competitive" without the threat of relegation

"Some teams in the relegation zone would [previously] rest players when they came up against a side they didn't think they would beat, because the next game was against a relegation rival.
"That doesn't happen any more because there's no need to."
"Competitive results are going to happen more and more often," he said.
I think I'm goin mad Ted!"They're not looking over their shoulder [anymore], they're looking upwards all the time."

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
I always thought Joe Marler was a complete w&%ker. The latest episode confirms it.
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
2 week ban and has to talk to kids re "Rugby Values" for Marler for calling Jake Heenan's mum a w* ore.

Sarries are looking good.
Back playing their old patterns and looking really well coached.

What price a Euro final rematch with them in the Aviva this May...?

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
In same Euro pool, teams ranked 1 and 3 from Pool A would meet in Semi Final in theory, teams ranked 2 and 4 in the opposite side of the draw.wixfjord wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2023, 12:05 pm Sarries are looking good.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Yes, Sarries currently on 9 points with Lyon at home and Edinburgh away to come, so should be fighting with us for 1st/2nd in that pool.neill_m wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2023, 12:27 pmIn same Euro pool, teams ranked 1 and 3 from Pool A would meet in Semi Final in theory, teams ranked 2 and 4 in the opposite side of the draw.wixfjord wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2023, 12:05 pm Sarries are looking good.

Sharks/Exeter still have to come north/south.

Heenan alleges that the ref heard Marler calling his mother a w***e and did nothing. Put it in the official report. Not a good look for the ref.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
The RFU judgement takes into account that abuse is common in the game. The panel views that players who make abusive comments should be punished. The way I read these two sections its like this is a general warning. We know this is common so lets stamp it out rather than make a massive example out of Marler.sunshiner1 wrote: ↑January 4th, 2023, 7:48 am https://twitter.com/RugbyInsideLine/sta ... ason%2Fp10

34. The Panel took account of its significant rugby experience and acknowledged that regrettably, and to the
Game’s detriment, such attempts to put opponent players off using abusive jibes have long-been part of the
Game. That is not to excuse or condone such behaviour. But, when viewed in this context, the Panel
considered it was not appropriate to single this particular player out for this particular incident by imposing an
unduly severe sanction.
35. As has already been stated repeatedly, but so as to leave no room for doubt, comments such as these are
wholly inappropriate and should form no part of the modern game. This is especially so in the elite game where
rugby players are role models; such behaviour sets a poor example for others. In this Panel’s view, rugby
players who make such comments to put opponent players off their game or otherwise, should expect to
receive appropriate punishment that could include receiving an on-field red card

Leocaster in Kingsholm tonight.
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
along with Andrew Goodman, and Emmett Farrell.
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
actually feel sorry for Sarries (wash my mouth out) with some of Dicksons decisions.
Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
But not the very strange decision to refuse to look at a potential red card for Farrell because it was in a previous phase of play!!!!!

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Wow - that makes Dickson’s decision to not look at the foul play even worse now. Should have been carded but ends up scoring the winning points

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
My comment was logged many many phases (along time) before that happened.
That was KD's explanation on the Red. TMO was asleep; should have called it much sooner. KD explained it could not be checked as it occurred several phases prior. That must be the WR directive to Refs.. .he hardly made it up.

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
Conditions probably had a part to play; but it was an error strewn performance from both sides. Wasn't too impressed with either sides, or their attempts to control the game or play the conditions.

Only 3 of the eleven teams in Prem have a positive points difference. Strange league.
