Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
RTE reporting POC is out for the rest of the season. Coming to Dublin tomorrow for a scan. Fears are that it's the achilles tendon. Hopefully just some ligament damage and he'll be back jogging in a month.
Shocking effort by Buckley as a lifter. His concentration levels have always been suspect but releasing a man at the top of the jump is bloody dangerous. All POC's weight came down on his ankle. I'd be a very unhappy man if I was POC given he was just about fully recovered and back to fitness.

Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
So, interested to hear what Leinster fans thought of Murray last night. Was a big step up from playing the likes of the Dragons but personally was happy to see the way he handled himself. Seems to have the temperament for it, which is all important in a SH.
Thoughts? (Not you Hugonaut, don't want this getting too pornographic - we already know you have the man love for him bad. )

Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
I'm optimistic about his injury. I would have thought that a snapped achilles would be obvious to the medical team straight away. Having said that, if it is ligament damage then who knows how bad that could be anyway? My heart goes out to the guy, he's been in great form again for the last month and to miss the world cup would be devastating.
Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
IMO thought he deserved MOTM didnt think O'Gara was that special just kicked his goals, was impressed but will hold full decision on him till he plays more than 2 or 3 matchsMunsterboy wrote:So, interested to hear what Leinster fans thought of Murray last night. Would be of the opinion his performance trend is upwards and hopefully onwards.Munsterboy wrote:So, interested to hear what Leinster fans thought of Murray last night. If I were rating him against his peers he is already ahead of TOL and Stringer in Munster. His one weakness is his passing, which is bit too high for the receiver (This needs to be addressed as a priority).
He should be close to first choice for Ireland by the end of next season (should get a run, off the bench, at some stage), so long as he doesn't succumb to the usual hype by Munster fans about young prospects.
Leave him alone, let him develop, don't over-hype him and you may well have a real gem on your hands.
The only caveat is that as teams analyze him, he will find it harder, so the real judgement should come at the end of next season.
On a related issue - Felix jones, in just too games, is looking like the real deal at FB. A definite possibility for the WC.

I thought Jones looked alright last night, nothing special, but the outside backs didn't see any ball at all.
Murray on the other hand is the real deal, a real find, and it's a really good step to play him in the big matches.

So would you care to inform us which players you are talking about?
Big match from Munster.Don't really understand the criticism of their so called ugly rugby.I love open running rugby but I also admire the collective mastery of this Munster team. What a beautiful machine with that ruthless side to them.

Yip midfield made sure Munsters backthree didnt see any decent ball. Murray does indeed look the part. went missing at a few rucks but experience should sort that outfourthirtythree wrote:I thought Jones looked alright last night, nothing special, but the outside backs didn't see any ball at all.

Re: Munster Thread 2010/2011
Munster badly need to sign some decent centres. Mafi is beyond useless and Murphy is a decent winger, but not a centre.
Very impressed with Coughlan, Murray and Jones last night. Ryan didn't do a whole lot though to justify his selection and was caught out for the try.

I would suggest to you, that in order for you to learn anything about your over-hypeing problem you need to work it out for yourself, otherwise it just becomes another the world against Munster thing.downsouthdukin wrote:Oldschool wrote:so long as he doesn't succumb to the usual hype by Munster fans about young prospects.Munsterboy wrote:So, interested to hear what Leinster fans thought of Murray last night. I gave you my overall appraisal of Murray. Suck it up and take it as a genuine observation.
If after a week you still can;t figure out at least two of the suspects, then get back to me.
A clue for you, there is another one in the making (ie overhyped) already.

POC's injury confirmed as ligament damage by MR. They can't confirm the length of his absence at this point in time and will re-examine the ankle in 10 days.

Keith Earls is probably the only Munster player that has ever had a bit of hype about him. He has kept his head down and worked hard and has certainly remained far more low-key than either Luke or Kearney.Oldschool wrote:I would suggest to you, that in order for you to learn anything about your over-hypeing problem you need to work it out for yourself, otherwise it just becomes another the world against Munster thing.downsouthdukin wrote:Oldschool wrote: so long as he doesn't succumb to the usual hype by Munster fans about young prospects.

Credit Murray - he is 21 years old and looked very comfortable in a fairly key position for a team who were under huge pressure to win. Maybe his pass is a bit high at the moment, but more importantly his head seems to be well screwed on.

Over-hyping not over-hypeing.. you should learn to spell what you talking about, its the very least you could do considering you really don't know what your talking about.Oldschool wrote:I would suggest to you, that in order for you to learn anything about your over-hypeing problem you need to work it out for yourself, otherwise it just becomes another the world against Munster thing.downsouthdukin wrote:Oldschool wrote: so long as he doesn't succumb to the usual hype by Munster fans about young prospects.

Your appraisal of Murray is worthless old chap, i would rather laugh at it than suck it up. how many time have you seen him now? ah once maybe twice?
Since you are unable to comprise a list of over-hyped Munster players I'll start one for the great and good of Leinster...
Andy Dunne, POD, Gary Brown, Kieren Lewis, David Kearney, Toner, Jennings, Willis, Warner, Fat argie prop didnt last the season 2 years ago, Potts...

Haven't seen enough of Murray to form a judgement yet, but he looked ok. Ok like cillian willis looked in his early days before he kind of stagnated, or ok like boss looked before he became a very good sh, who knows?
Coughlan was the one "newbie"'who stood out for me. Which is good because Ireland really needs more talented back rowers.

I'm also in the man-love camp - I've seen him play 9 or 10 times at this stage and he looks like he's been playing for years. He ticks more boxes than all the other 9s playing on Irish soil at the moment. Pass could be a bit flatter... and a tad lower, but his passing technique is excellent, good strength, pace, awareness, great box-kicking. Get him on the plane Declan!Munsterboy wrote:So, interested to hear what Leinster fans thought of Murray last night. Not sure there was much hype about Dave Kearney at all. Whatever, he's come good this year. I didn't think he'd make the grade last year to be honest as I didn't think he'd the gas for a winger and hadn't seen much else from him. He's a fantastic squad player to have now and I expect he'll be challenging next year.
Jennings is the real deal, he was at Leicester, and he still is. No hype, pure performance. Hugely superior player to Leamy, much more useful to a team, much more adaptable to rule changes, has many strings to his bow, is our defensive lynchpin and a genuine openside. Leinster are a much lesser team without him. Look at Sean at openside on Saturday and compare what Jennings brings to the team.
Toner's gone backwards unfortunately and it seems that may have been hype. Most of the others

i like jennings i must admit. however him and leamy are very different players and on caps won and honours leamy would be the superior player.fourthirtythree wrote:downsouthdukin wrote: Andy Dunne, POD, Gary Brown, Kieren Lewis, David Kearney, Toner, Jennings, Willis, Warner, Fat argie prop didnt last the season 2 years ago, Potts...
