FTFY 🧐
Don't misquote me.

And until you want to park your utter arrogance over a blatantly subjective matter then the conversation is over.
C’mon you’re taking this a bit seriously, no?

It’s objectively a shite song, totally derivative with nothing new musically and not a lot lyrically. There’s a faint connection to Buddhist philosophy which is interesting for maybe 5 minutes but that’s it.

Anyhoo the message is even this choice of song took nothing away from the overall experience…

The entire story of the song can be paraphrased into

“Unlike many other people, my love has sweet f%~k all, he just wants freedom and love and he’s OK with that”
“La la la la la la la la la la la la”

It has all of the bang of a “song of the summer.”

Even the agadoo had something about picking pineapples and learning to sway.

So whilst I don’t want to take away anyone’s enjoyment of a very special day, I stand by my wurdz

So is all pop music muck then?

What level of intellectual engagement in lyrics does it take to reach the high bar of your opinion?

Lots of pop somgs are really good, that one just stands out as being really bad

What level of intellectual engagement is required? Some - just some. Something more than none.

And loads of pop songs are really good

I suggest you read the lyrics of a few of your favourites.

Especially the ones that are "objectively bad"

Which clearly includes most of the personal favourites of mr socks.

Objectively? Or is that "just your opinion"?

The only thing I would say on the matter is that the players clearly enjoyed it. It seemed to add to their experience.

Do you think the players/coaches had a say in the song? We've all had those tunes that got us going as a group of friends in a sort of self-mocking way, I wonder is their tune of the era.

If not, it made me cringe and was a shocking song choice.

If they had played the Death March or the Birdie Song, it wouldn't have spoiled my enjoyment of a once in a lifetime experience. You really have to wonder how some people seem to seek out causes of annoyance.

Need a poll.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014
Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles
