Re: 6 Nations 2023 - Ireland
This will be the Sheep Whisperer's most pragmatic, Warrenball gameplan of his career.
He hasn't had the time to do anything else, he's only in the door. The fact he's going for all the old stagers means the pressure is on from the shambles above him to make people forget what a mess the WRU is. He's been asked for results and the only way he'll get them is to go back to the same old same old.
Set piece will be heavy sledding. Line speed will be unreal in the first 40-50, then age should tell.

Gatty saying that when the Bulls, La Rochelle and Saracens have 'unsettled' Leinster, it's always involved 'taking them on', and Wales will try to do the same to Ireland.
The difference is that Wales don't have 6'8" 145kg Will Skelton, 6'6" 155kg Uini Antonio, two prime Vunipolas, Alldritt, Priso, Marcell Coetzee, etc....Wales simply don't have the personnel to impose the same bullying on Ireland/Leinster.

Reading about Farrells approach to the mental side of the game gives me great confidence.

They will try and jackal a lot against us. It's a back-row built to jackal – Tipuric, Jac Morgan, Faletau, Reffell off the bench are all very good over the ball in defense. They will also tackle like crazy.neiliog93 wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2023, 11:55 pm Gatty saying that when the Bulls, La Rochelle and Saracens have 'unsettled' Leinster, it's always involved 'taking them on', and Wales will try to do the same to Ireland.

Defense will be a priority, because you can't win enough games with attack if you are busy losing them on defense. But even with the team he has picked full of old hands, they will not be getting the same coaching as they were getting from Shaun Edwards. Even if they are being told the same things, it's not the same.
Gatland and his new coaching staff have had very little time with these lads. Farrell has been in charge for just over three years [38 months or so] with the same coaching team; Gatland has been in charge for two months with a new coaching team, that is, not the same guys he had before. Very little time to produce an attacking game with misdirection, subtlety, variation etc.

Furlong, JGB and Sexton are the three irreplaceables, two of them are out. I've a feeling Sexton will go down early.

Murray is no slouch. It might mean a rejig in tactics but I wouldn't be writing us off just yet.by Barry

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.
Re: 6 Nations 2023 - Ireland
Still expect us to win but I say that with a lot less confidence than a couple of hours ago.Oldschool wrote:Mine's a half glass full of the black stuff too.sunshiner1 wrote: ↑February 4th, 2023, 12:16 pmMurray is no slouch. Unfortunately we're not getting the 2017 version of Murray.

Murray saying it's a hamstring injury with JCB. Guess he could be out for a few weeks at least.
