Two lovely offloads in Ireland 20s vs Leinster development lead to early scores in Donnybrook.

Ben Murphy threw one for Lee Barron to open the scoring for Leinster, then Ruadhan Quinn to Mangan for Ireland

Aitzol King with some lovely touches for Leinster. Burned a defender on the outside, flashes of good footwork and an offload that led to the go ahead score

Sam Prendergast throws a lovely flat ball to Quin to break the line. He then steps the fullback for Ireland’s 3rd try

Another offload leads to the score. This time John Devine out the back to Hugh Gavin to beat Cosgrave’s scramble tackle.

Half-time Leinster Dev 14 Ireland 20s 28

Both sides struggling to build phases due to errors but Ireland’s handling out of contact has been superb, leading to multiple line breaks. Strong lineout maul too

Prendergast looks good picking options at 10 under pressure

Murphy is expected to announce his squad for the Under-20 Six Nations Championship on January 18th and on the evidence of some aspects of the performance there is justifiable reason to be optimistic, injuries notwithstanding.

review of 20s game:
Entertaining game at times, with some lovely offloading from both sides, but equally quite disjointed with both sides guilty of forcing things a bit too much at times.

I didn't recognise quite a few of the Leinster Development subs and some of their starting side, but believe a lot of the wider U20s were featuring for them.

Impressive for Ireland for me were Ruadhan Quinn, Sam Prendergast, Brian Gleeson & Gus McCarthy. Fintan Gunne had some nice moments too when introduced. Impressive for Leinster were Aitzol King, Ben Brownlee and Max Dunne at blindside flanker.

No.8 Brian Gleeson from Munster looks a serious prospect. Still u19 but is massive, ( 6'5 would be my guess ) and a great old school carrier. Don't know if he'll start this year given the strength of the back row with McNabney, Quinn and Mangan but looks impressive.

Any word on how Paddy McCarthy (who has been playing almost all his rugby, very well, at Loose-Head) did against Hannan?
