Think Leinster will do all in their power to keep him. Already seems like we've given him an academy contract early and had him as 24th man at Gloucester. Think we should send him down to South Africa and give him game time(maybe even a start). Show that he is really valued and will get minutes next season. Can't be risking talents like him making a name elsewhere IMO. If we do that and he leaves fair enough, but think we should be proactive.mildlyinterested wrote: ↑March 15th, 2023, 8:15 pmHopefully he sticks with leinster, temptation to join his brother has to be there.
Will be a big shame if leinster overlooked cian for soroka and both soroka and 2 prendergasts end up elsewhere a few years down the line.

Re: Ireland U20s 2023
Are there any substantial indications that Soroka may be moving to Munster?
Or is this just someone got it in their heads that he might go to Munster because he’s from Cork, and he’s not getting a look in at Leinster?

Just because a post upsets you, that doesn’t mean that it is wrong. People have different views in all aspects of life, this is a key ingredient to an interesting conversation.

Do you think if you are born somewhere and leave while still an infant, you are from that place? That's a weird belief if so.munster#1 wrote: ↑March 16th, 2023, 4:14 pmYes he is.
What if you're born on a plane? Are you from a plane? I have a couple of cousins that grew up in Cork but were born in the national maternity hospital. Are they from Dublin? They'll be disappointed to learn that.

One of my best friends was born in Cork and spent the first year of his life there, then the rest of it in Dublin, and he's a 100% Munster fan. I kind of suspect he just does it to wind the rest of us up.

The Duke of Wellington rather nastily put it.
"Just because you are born in a stable doesn't make you a horse" or words to that effect.
The Duke didn't like the fact that he was born in Ireland apparently.

AIUI, that's a scurrlious rumour spread by Daniel O'Connell and co to tarnish him. There was plenty of Irish in the empires service right up until WW1 and they weren't ashamed of their Irish heritage(e.g. Field Marshall French)

I prefer the Cork version.
"Just because a cat crawls into an oven to have her kittens doesn't make 'em biscuits" (But in a Cork accent)
Ask San Diego's own Ronan O'Gara or Israel's own Jamie Heaslip

His Ma & Da are Dubs, went to Mayo to setup a practice, young Doris was sent to Dublin to be ejimicated in the Rock.Oldschoolsocks wrote: ↑March 16th, 2023, 8:49 pmFrom Lacken and went to school there, right?

Leinster Rugby says he was born in Cork.mildlyinterested wrote: ↑March 16th, 2023, 6:00 pmHe is not.
However, with his parents being from Ukraine the chances that he might marry a cousin from Cork were slim and he was therefore rejected.
The family managed to make it to civilisation a few years later after his sister was born.

No, that was Daniel O’Connell sneer at him. Wellesley was proud of his Irishness- if naturally, in an Ascendancy way.Oldschool wrote:The Duke of Wellington rather nastily put it.

Arguing that he’s not from Cork, or is…? Well, that’s all beside the point: firstly, as a professional sportsman, where does his best career advantage lie. Secondly, only then does where he was born come into it.

He grew up there and still returns there to family house so I'd say yes while also being from Dublin.pangurban1 wrote: ↑March 16th, 2023, 8:31 pmIs Doris Mayo?
Soroka was born in Cork but grew up in dublin, having no attachment to Cork other than its where he was born.

It depends how the individual identifies. Doris said in a recent interview that he was a Mayo man, so that's good enough for me, he's a Mayo man.
