Still lots of moaning about this Tour, but Provinces have never fielded such strong, experienced teams in Rd 3 & 4 of any previous URC / Pro14 / Magners.
Previous complaints were we didn't treat RWC seriously enough. Now when the scales are tilted a little bit in favour of international team, there's complaints that URC competition is being ruined.
Needless to say, I'm a fan of the thinking behind this Tour, with such a reduced URC calendar and no formal A competition. I think it will be paying dividends for years to come. As for the opposition, beating bigger stronger men on their home patch is never a bad habit.

But it's the same old argument with 7s. If a player bolts was it specifically this tour or would they have come through naturally, showing up in training for their province, breaking into the urc, then final stages of euro and then the world Cup warm up matches, etc etc.ronk wrote:Or if a player bolts.Dave Cahill wrote: ↑October 4th, 2022, 8:41 pmThe tour will be seen as a good idea if we win a quarter final, if we don't it won't be.Ruckedtobits wrote: ↑October 4th, 2022, 6:38 pm Andrew Smith looked like he had come on a lot during the recent Sevens coverage. Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
I honestly cannot and can see the reason for this tour
I cannot see a reason because it makes no sense
I can see a reason because the result of the management team point to a clear progression
I'm confused

Not at all post hoc reasoning because Keenan and Jimmy O'Brien . . . .and how much they love repeating Nucifora's talking points . . . .heno wrote: ↑October 5th, 2022, 1:35 amBut it's the same old argument with 7s. Hodnett out and Penny starting in his place. Coaches still hoping that Hodnett will be okay to play on Sunday.

Someone is going to get badly hurt with the way this is going. Surprised Mcilroy is still on, thought he was out cold when he fell but hard to see it properly. The officials clearly wanted to ignore this clearout but it’s a really bad one.
Edit: Yellow!! It’s a nothing game but that guy shouldn’t be coming back on.

Ironically this is good practice for the World Cup as we've never had the luck there in terms of cards in our favour.LeRouxIsPHat wrote: ↑October 5th, 2022, 4:17 pm Someone is going to get badly hurt with the way this is going. Oh dear. TMO did everything he could but ref wouldn’t listen
Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
That’s a shocking decision by the Ref. That was a red card offence by the Pumas No 5, clear as day.

Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
I think that’s the worst TMO intervention I’ve ever seen Even if it was forward, who cares?
Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
Officiating is a bit of a shambles. Thought there was a clear forward pass in the lead up to Mullins try (before Prendergast break). Now the phantom knock on, hours to review the tape... Ugh

Well on course for the first half to be about an hour too. Injuries to McIlroy and Salanoa but it shouldn’t have taken this long.
That looked a sore one for Salanoa but good to see him battle on, he’s been very good IMO. Looked like he destroyed one scrum earlier on.

Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
Connacht should be begging Nucifora to let them have Mullins early.
Culhane looks slight when you see him next to these boys, might need another pre season before we see him for Leinster. Very athletic and has an eye for a gap but his basics have let him down a couple of times. Don’t remember that being an issue for the 20’s though so not a concern.

This ref is truly awful.
Re: Emerging Ireland to tour SA
There are some strange calls from the ref in this game I have to say.
