some truly awful defending gifts France an easy break which they do well to convert.

Ireland finally hold on to the ball for a period of time and it's a try.

17-7 HT France much the better but we've done well to limit them a little more since an awful first 20 minutes

It's a mystery how it's only 10 points in it. If ireland don't improve the floodgates will open. They look like they've just met.

Performance in the next three games is going to be a real measure of the coaching ability within this group. There is clearly a significant difference in the preparation of this group compared to the 6N collection. That said, the improvement during the course of the 6N was marked and I expect to see good improvement, particularly up front.

I like the look of Lorcan McLoughlin. He was the only forward bringing it to the French for most of the game. Great pace, power and foot-work.

I thought the backs were very poor. Way to many errors which just piled on the pressure and France had their tails up then. The pack were alright. Scrums were bad on first viewing but the French were up to all sorts of tricks. Usually stepping to their left at the engagement so it wasn't straight.

The breakdown wasn't good either with a few players off the pace.

 Remember how good things looked on the 27th May? Ireland had had a much improved season, the 20’s were grand slam winners, and Leinster were looking good for the double. The bubble seems to have burst!

They used to call Joey Carbery the Brylcreem boy, then for some reason they grew to like him.
Didn't last.
