If there is an u20 world cup this year, then this Wales side could be relegated, that's how bad they looked!JB1973 wrote: ↑February 7th, 2022, 10:35 amnow now Ireland have had it's own share of jokes about not being the brightestBlue Man wrote: ↑February 5th, 2022, 8:06 pmCouldn’t agree more. Wales were awful, the forwards looked a mix of lads who are undersized and not physically strong enough , or lads who are overweight and not physically fit enough
Dreadful stuff and we could well get the under 20 wooden spoon which is very worrying
Ireland looked a well coached , well drilled, physically fit and strong team your 14 looks a really good prospect , it's hard to judge you against that welsh side though we really were that bad.
Not into bashing refs and she had no effect on the result but she did manage to get in the way of quite a few phases of play something you rarely see

Very suprised by how bad that Wales team were. 3 of the starters have had URC and Heino experience, one of them had played against us the week before. I'd be reluctant to read too much into one game, this crop of U20s (all of the 6N teams) have had a very disrupted few years and may take a bit to develope.
Still though great for the lads to bag such a big win.

Re: Ireland U20's 2022
Wales were rotten and the coach has publically called them out on their condition and effort
While he isn't wrong I'm not sure that is the way to motivate a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds but time will tell
Ireland were very good, skilled lads who had a cohesive game plan and looked fit and physically powerful, clearly your school/academy set up is working very well
It will be interesting to see how they fare vs the English and French, it looks to me like the 6 nations is going to become a two tier competition for the foreseeable future with England, France and Ireland as the dominant trio and Scotland Wales and Italy in the second tier.
Although the current Scottish side should be competitive for the next few seasons

He's probably doing them a favour letting them know that they are at a crossroads and can choose a path outside rugby or they can raise their standards.
There's still time. It's a call to action.

So, is that two changes in backline at Rt wing and Centre?

Most of the profiles are up now. McSweeney is 130kgs so looking forward to seeing if he can scrummage. Wilson and McGuire are about 120kgs. Big tightheads this year. We probably underestimated the size of the Ireland pack with Culhane and McNabney being 6'4 and 6'5. It was just the second row being a bit light.
Ó Tighearnaigh is 6'7 and 109kgs but looks as though he could be about 120kg in a few years.

Losing by 6 with 20 to go.
Doing ok.
Italy just beat England 6-0.
first win at the grade

Not sure how they did that but we'll take it
Ref wasn't popular with the French but I think she got most of the calls right at the end

Re: Ireland U20's 2022
What a brilliant win!
Culhane looks a really good player. Boyle clearly class too and thought hooker McCormack was great.
Backs are a step down from the forwards though. Campbell was lively but halfbacks aren't great.
Very disappointed with Coughlan, lively pass but loads of poor errors.
Proper chance of a grand slam now!

Yeah forwards excellent, backs poor enough. The kicking in particular looks a weak point which makes the win even more impressive.
McCormick looks the best Ireland U20 thrower I've seen.
