Richie Murphy, who has been the Ireland Skills and Kicking Coach since 2013, will take over as Ireland Under-20 Head Coach and prepare the squad for the upcoming Under-20 Six Nations Championship this summer. Richie will be in charge of the PwC sponsored Ireland Under-20s for the next two seasons.

https://www.irishrugby.ie/2021/03/29/ri ... ead-coach/

that's Ben's place in the squad sorted.

That's a broad-based Squad, even with the list of absentees (and there's a few more that could be added to it). The fundamental problems are that this generation are at the period of significant S&C development but totally deprived of any rugby experience, unless they're in a formal Academy structure and, even then, it's largely been training blocks rather than games.

It will likely lead to very uneven development and, potentially, a long injury list as they progress through competition. A very tough coaching gig for all involved.

Yeah a few players there who haven’t played rugby or potentially haven’t done any gym training in a very long time due to lockdown.

The modern Irish underage Panel with players from QUB, Ennis, MU Barnhall, Sligo, Naas as well as all the usual Club sources.

Very evident to see the dominance of the University Clubs (19). Possible a function of Covid and the closure of Rugby Clubs for almost a year.

Depending on what work they have been able to do it could go either way. There have been some good performances in athletics because the break allowed some of them to put in work they normally would never be able to do.

What’s the story with Chris Cosgrave? Is he injured or is he dropped?

Any ideas on what's the best starting 15 and bench.
Who are the standouts.
Who are the leaders.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

If the front five are competitive and half-backs competent, that would be an excellent starting XV.

Doak is probably one of leading players, I would think.

Starting with Scotland and then Wales gives us a decent chance of getting up to "match-speed" at the right time.

I've an Italian contact who says that their under age teams are looking good from 17's through to '20's due to work put in by O'Shea and Aboud.

Really looking forward to this Tournament which will really strip away many of the normal advantages the English and French have enjoyed in terms of pre-Tournament preparation. This one will be about fundamental talent and quality of coaching on the training ground, both aspects I believe we are decent at.
