On this occasion, rather than continue the rankings down to eight teams as previously, we have decided to outline rankings for players born after 1st January 1996, the next generation. We have outlined them as Squad X - 30 players whom we consider will figure at National level in the coming seasons:

Just a reminder of our Irish Depth Chart as ranked at the end of March, I.e. post 6N. Who's been lucky and who's been unfortunate in light of the Farrell summer tests selection?

Some more players have joined the injured list and some have come off it. However, players like Lowry, Hume, Marmion and Woottam have a right to wonder how they lost the coin toss given their form in 2021. Andrew Conway, Ross Moloney and Peter Dooley are fortunate to be included but perhaps each player offers something not offered by others..

Interested to hear other perspectives.

As more players have joined the injured list and some have come off it and others are omitted by overseas engagement, Farrell's choices are constrained. However, possibly players like Lowry, Marmion and Woottam have a right to wonder how they lost the coin toss given their form in 2021. Andrew Conway, Ross Moloney and Peter Dooley are fortunate to be included but perhaps each player offers something not offered by others..

Interested to hear other perspectives. Are there others who should have been included as injured, overseas or just not considered? I count 38 players from the lists above who for one reason or another is not available for this Irish selection. Not all would be of the requisite standard but considering those who might be real contenders, it gives some idea of our current depth of players........but also of the toll of injuries our game tolerates and survives.
