Agreed - If we want form players to be picked then Kilcoyne is the only option to back up Healy.wixfjord wrote:Kilcoyne more than deserves to be in there.
He has had a great season, Munster scrum is solid and he adds a carrying dimension off the bench that not many others do.
He gets a weird amount of flack on here, and isn't the player Jack McGrath was 2-3 years ago. But neither is Jack McGrath.

Ah! My very own troll. That would be incorrect.OTT wrote:I love meritocracy except when it goes against one of my favourites.

I don’t like but accept Kleyn over Dev, Carty over Byrne and Larmour over Addison. #TAGT
To be fair, it was Farrell and Ringrose v Italy, with Haley on the bench....backrower8 wrote:No. Can’t see why AKI is the only player to start all 4 games when Ringrose and Farrell have been for throughout the period. A poor decision maker, particularly in defence.
Ringer and Henshaw don’t play together nearly enough due to injuries, yet have the potential to be a world class combination.
As for Killer. He is only ok scrummaging against B-teams or tier 2 nations other than Georgia. He will hemorrhage penalties against any tier 1 country. Frightening thought. #Pray4Church
You just had to go and set him off on that again, didn't you?wixfjord wrote: I do find it funny too that you keep banging on about this 'forum group think' thing as if you're some mad fresh thinker from outside the LF bubble...and then in every other post talking relentlessly about the private south Dublin school you attended decades ago and praising its players!
Would Toner and McGrath have moved the dial?Fan with smartphone wrote:Interesting tweet from Murray Kinsella that Ireland has the third most caps going to the World Cup. That’s behind Australia and New Zealand. Surprises me that Cheika has the most capped squad. The best analysis piece that demented mole ever did (in my opinion) was the age of Aquarius piece and in that Cheika was seen as a (let’s say) jumpy selector. He hasn’t done that here though. I’m happy with where it’s at though for us. Joe is a builder and a planner. This is very close to the squad he’s been planning for some time.
Using Murray’s figures that would have bumped it up to 2nd - I reckon 2 caps more than New Zealand, but still more than 200 behind Cheika’s Australian squad. Like I say - Joe is a planner/strategist. The best there is. He was never going to throw the chips up in the air like a Gatland would, unless he was in trouble. It’s worked for Gatland, before, but I personally would be happier with Joe’s way. Kleyn-Toner is a departure from that, but letting a big hitter go in that way, if they perhaps feel he’s not 100% from injury last year and not quite performing like he can, it maybe guards against the untouchable 2007 syndrome. It will have sent out a warning that lads aren’t going to be played into form, but against a backdrop of a squad that’s a long time in the making.ronk wrote:Would Toner and McGrath have moved the dial?Fan with smartphone wrote:Interesting tweet from Murray Kinsella that Ireland has the third most caps going to the World Cup.
