Wow, I think this is a massively exciting team, loaded with players capable of big-game moments.
Hugely interested to see how they go. A lot of determined, hungry characters in there who won't be happy to stay dirt-trackers.
It’s as weak a starting pack as you’ll see. It’s half guys with potential(TOT, maccarthy, prendergast &coombes) and half(and this is maybe harsh) guys who look like placeholders. Playing in this type of team isn’t a great opportunity for either of those groups.
Biggest opportunity here is for JOB to nail down the understudy at 15 however the game pans out. If he can put in a solid game with few errors even where we play badly he’s in the box seat until Lowry likely gets a shot in the 2nd Māori game
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
England A 8 - 14 Ireland A, 25th Jan 2014 Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles

Sounds like we should call it off before someone gets killed.

Good article on Cian Prendergast. It’s a bit weird to have a 4th choice 6 on tour but this hints at why. Extremely hard worker off the pitch.
He's done very well and it clearly suited him to get gametime and he's been well motivated. He seized the day.
The point was made that he didn't get an academy place and that it was competitive, which it was. Prendergast was a sub competing with players like Deeny and Sean O'Brien who have been injured, but there was also Baird, Soroka, McCarthy. From a wider Ireland perspective there was Ahern and McCann. Moloney was a year earlier. Doris was coming through too.
And the timing with Covid was poor. Easy to see how there was a clearer path in Connacht.

Shame for Loughman, looks unlikely he’ll be back for this game. Long old shift Healy will have to put in and then go again on Saturday on the bench

At half time my first thought is that Loughman should not be on the field. He had to be helped of it and that should be the sign that is day is over.
Second thought is that this is very poor from Ireland. So many issues across the board, not least is discipline. Some awful penalties conceded. It's going to be a very long second half
