They defended heroically in the first half but tbh I thought the ref saved them a good few times. We were blatantly in from the side at the breakdown and mauls but she often rewarded us. Lineout was sloppy a couple of times despite not being under pressure.

A great effort though and it would have been interesting to see if we’d been able to fire a few more shots with a first choice side. As much as England dominated it seems harsh to be nilled.

I get that players need to adapt but for something like that I think a yellow would be fair.

There was a lot of skill on show and both sides were very good, the yellow card then the red made an already difficult task all the harder, the England scrum was something else though.

Speaking of him, why was he beside McWilliams? I’ve never understood why he appears in the coaches box at all but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. But when it comes to the women’s game is it not a strange one for him to be so close to the action after everything that’s happened over the last 6 months?

Lots of chat about professional contracts for the Irish womens team. I have no problem at all as long as it's clearly spelled out where the money is coming from. Is it from the 4 pro teams budgets or is it from the domestic rugby budget with the potential loss of staff.

If it is self financing then it has my 100% support.

Being cynical. He was there to ensure that if another letter goes in to the IRFU it won't include a phrase saying that Mr Nucifora has shown so little interest in the women's game that he didn't even turn up for their internationals and yet he attended ALL the men's 6Ns games.

No chance of it being self financing if match day income is to be a main source of revenue. 5K attendance at a fiver a ticket and kids go free is not going to pay anybody's rent.

So lets say they put 20 players on €30K contracts. That's about €700K including the extras. Add that to the €2.5m we already spend and suddenly that's a fairly expensive division that produces (and in fairness is likely to) produce very little success. What's the end game?
