That is a worry. Hope he pulls through in good shape as we need a full deck all staying fit to compete.

I'll wait for confirmation, this strikes me as a bigged up story for a slow news day/ week.

Worst case scenario he's not fit, who do you bench behind McGrath? And how do you compromise the loss of a ball carrier like that? Start Cronin or Hendo? Grin and bear it?

The rumours have been around for a while but he seems to be training and even did a bungee jump a few weeks back. The fact that we didn't include Cronin in the squad is a positive too.

Thankfully it's one area we can cover for a loss like that. His absence would probably mean we'd go for 5 props with Bent being one of them. We might be leaning that way anyway but I reckon this would confirm it. My guess is that he's touch and go at the moment, hard to know if we'd give him every chance to make it or not given that we do have guys who can cover unlike someone like Murray if he was to pick up an injury.

Fingers crossed he'll be okay, he's genuinely world class and has already had rotten luck with his Lions injury.

Re carriers you just grin and bear it

IF Healy werent to go you either still take 5 props but McGrath cant be first choice LH and 3rd choice TH at same time. Bent as to go then as the new Tom Court but you call someone else up if a prop suffers more than a niggle as. Killer would come on to the bench

Or you take 6 props and take the 3 Leinster THs plus McGrath, Killer and then Buckley/Bent/Cronin. That scenario means one less utility back and definitely only 2 10s going

Could be centre cover that loses out too, more so because nobody is really putting their hand up there than anything else.

I wonder if there's any chance of him missing out initially but then being called up? We might need to break someone's arm a la The Great Escape but just curious as to how much he's actually struggling, I can't work out if the lack of a timescale in the article is a positive or a negative.

I still think Darcy may go as Henshaw is our best 12 or 13

A bungee jump? I would have thought that a bit irresponsible/premature/risky (delete as per your feelings) for someone who has undergone any sort of spinal surgery recently!

Did he really do that or is it just the internet making things up?

That was my first thought too. Can't see any way in which doing a bungee jump would have been a good idea in the circumstances.

Yeah I'd have been more reassured if I'd seen some photos of him scrummaging. At least he does appear to be on the road to recovery though, even if he doesn't make the World Cup.

If you look at what he wrote there is absolutely no suggestion there that he did a bungee jump recently - in fact that's probably the one he did in 2012
