GB are combining for next years sevens and Uruguay are promoting from the lower tier so there will be 15 core teams.

Next season's top 4 qualify for the 2024 Olympics. Then there will be a European qualifier and a repechage qualifier.

The Irish women finished 4th in their world series which was also joint second. Japan is getting promoted to be a core team and team GB will unite.
In all likelihood we'll be relying on the repechage again - GB likely to take the European spot (ourselves and France in with a shout too), with four of the following five making up the top four in the series table: New Zealand, South Africa, Fiji, Australia, Argentina.
France surely won't have to qualify for their own Olympics

Good shout! Between us and GB for the European slot then (Spain outside bet), and if not still the repechage.

We're so much better than England at sevens now, it's hard to believe. Can't see us beating SA tomorrow, who were outstanding against Chile, but 5th place would still be a great achievement.

Well it shows what having a program does to sevens in a country. England has essentially dropped sevens temporarily (with GB sevens replacing them on the world series next year). That has had a massive demoralising effect. A lot of the players know that theres no place for them playing sevens next year.

5-8 is our general range in the mens 7s so job done to a certain extent.

Brilliant second half performance after a 7 7 first half sees the men to a 24 14 win against the Blitzbokke and a spot in the semi final

The first two minutes killed us - not claiming the first kick off in particular.

But despite conceding those two tries, they came back really strong and it was a brave performance to lose by the odd try in 5

Beaten 17-10 by NZ after coming back to 10-10 havingconceded 2 tries in first two minutes. A wonderful tournament performance from an under-rated team.
