I'm looking into going but looking for a group to join / gather who wont mind traveling, roughing it a bit. Caravan tents, car whatever combo works!!
Haven't booked anything yet though, still trying to convince.

Just got a note on facebook from RWC that payments for tickets are delayed and will be processed in the next few days. And that successfull applicants will recieve notification in early july, not at the end of june. So dont panic we just have to wait a bit longer.

I think its safe to say that anyone who applied will get what they wanted, its a PR machine trying to make people think they may miss out.

Match tickets will be easier to get than hotel beds in some locations ! (no joke)

the longer they take to charge credit cards the better, hopefully it will allow the euro to get stronger against the NZ$, the euro is $1.74 today

Its odd they way they did the ballot, you are signing up for tickets but you have no idea what category you will get (and therefore willl be charged) so you could get cheap seats or very pricey ones.

IIRC they only did that for the Final tickets in France (when it was done by ballot).

Rugby fans get surprise $1720 or €986 bill

Rugby fans who applied for world cup tickets two months' ago are feeling the impact in their wallets as ticket fees are finally charged to credit cards.

Phase One of Rugby World Cup tickets have been allocated, and the lucky recipients have paid up to $1720 for the privilege.

The charge comes as a bit of a surprise for some, as potential ticket-holders were not informed exactly how much they would pay for the tickets.

A customer services representative for the Rugby World Cup said that this is because of the complicated ballot system.

"People were warned in the terms and conditions to have money available in their accounts between June 17 and 25. They weren't warned the amount they would be charged because under the ballot system we couldn't guarantee what kind of ticket they would get."

The tickets which have so far been issued are for package tickets to pool matches of the cup.

The packs allow ticket-holders to go to all pool matches at a chosen venue, or each of a chosen team's pool matches.

To see all of New Zealand's pool matches costs between $430 - $1400.

Tickets to all of the pool matches at Eden Park were between $470 - $1720.

Phase 2 of the ticket applications, individual tickets to pool matches, will begin in August or September.

The last phase of the ballot- selecting who will attend the semis and the final- will begin in late 2010.

That's a bloody joke way to organise something - loads of people will end up with tickets they don't want - or at least at prices they don't want - while others will have been happy to pay more for better seats.

Why not do it the same way it's been done for the last few tournaments?

There is €700 appearing on my credit card from the RWC this morning. I applied for three Cat A pool packs and the QF add on tickets which would be more expensive than €700 so I am hoping that I have the three pool packs for different category seats. Will have to wait for the confirmation email.

Bit of an administration disaster IMO.

Well we seem to have plenty of empty hotels at the moment, just nowhere to play the games. Maybe some year we will make a world cup bid
