Re: 2021 Lions
Very stodgy from the Lions, Henshaw break aside. SA must love what's being thrown at them.

Re: 2021 Lions
Daly off and Farrell to 12 pretty quickly I'd imagine. If they are going to kick the leather off the ball, they should have selected a team to do it properly. Liam Williams, Farrell and Murray would have been a better selection for this "game plan", if that's what you call it.
Lions offering absolutely nothing in that first half.

Re: 2021 Lions
They picked a team to try and play with tempo and move the ball but all they’ve done is kick it away.
Jack has carried well and showed good hands, rest of the back row has been anonymous aside from Curry giving away penalties. Beirne has to come on ASAP, think he could make a real difference but might be tricky with needing Lawes to cover second row with AWJ clearly struggling.
LCD looks a wreck every time he goes to the line, need a change there too.
Think they lack leaders as well, Murray and Farrell might make a difference there.

Wouldn't imagine that was the game plan, but they're being forced into it because the pack is being so soundly beaten imo.Logorrhea wrote: ↑July 24th, 2021, 5:58 pm Daly off and Farrell to 12 pretty quickly I'd imagine. Re: 2021 Lions
cannot believe the lions are actually in the lead
was Gatlands plan to finish with the better team? much more zing to their play now and not being dominated up front like in the first half.

Jaysus I've never seen so much box kicking and aerial bombs. It's like watching Munster V's Munster

Re: 2021 Lions
Much better second half from the Lions. They destroyed SA in the air and that swung it for me.
Thought SA faded big time though and were very unlucky with a lot of decisions. Even at the very end Itoje was on the deck and played the ball. VDM ahead of Henshaw for that knock on that nearly led to a try and the Watson non yellow were two other big ones.
SA needed to make another change in the second or back row early on, doubt they’ll make that mistake next week.

Re: 2021 Lions
anyone else feel the Lions so didn't deserve to win that? much better second half but, jayziz...how watson didn't get a yellow is beyond me...plus the two tries scratched off was very very lucky.

Re: 2021 Lions
Tactical suicide by the 'Boks forwards by stacking their line-out defence at the back and disarming their defensive maul. They handed the Lions a weapon they couldn't have dreamed of. As a spectacle the game was a sh!t-show accompanied by a penalty fest from a very poor 'Bok pack who clearly lack match practice.
Well done Gatland. Finished with his strongest front five when he needed it. The Lions certainly got all the key refereeing decisions, in particular Watson. Two missed kicks by Pollard were key to the result but nothing on show here that would worry the ABS.

Re: 2021 Lions
On field decision is a try for Boks three times.
Thankfully he was wrong on two of them.
Watson very lucky definitely.
Lawes was well worth a mom, not sure who actually got it.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Re: 2021 Lions
Hats off to the Leinster contingent, all had a good showing. Conan a super game.
Mako Vunipola coming on a huge moment, shored up the scrum, Sutherland had been struggling. Big showing from Itoje and Lawes.
Daly poor and suspect we will see Aki in there especially if Farrell starts if Biggar is out.
Watson got away with one there.

Re: 2021 Lions
Conan my MOTM, Lawes had a bit of a dodgy first half but great second. I think its fair to say we out-physicaled the Boks...
Re: 2021 Lions
I see that Gatland is quoted in the Sindo saying that Jack Conan was “incredibly solid” and “doesn’t make mistakes”. Not what our friends on Munsterfans would want to hear but Gatland knows best!

Re: 2021 Lions
A good win. Thought Curry was kind of brainless and could have picked up a yellow easily with a different ref. Watson as well could find himself banned. We were lucky but we need to be smarter next time.
Re: 2021 Lions
Not sure there was enough in it to warrant red but Watson was very lucky to avoid 10 minutes in the bin.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish
