Sub tighthead, lock and scrumhalf

20 Leinster players in the Irish squad. 17 of them playing tomorrow (3 injured). I'm not sure if it's a record bit it's certainly a lot.

That's a full Leinster team minus a tighthead, a lock (or a backrow if Baird covers there) and a scrumhalf.

It's not that long ago that Porter was a tighthead and we had 6 players in the front row of an Irish 23.

They're the positions we need to fill to get a full house. IIRC some of our top prospects are in those positions.

We have good prospects at lock and scrum half, tighthead is the obvious gap in talent. Having unexpectedly lost both Aungier and Salanoa, our depth is shallow there. We will likely lose Abaladze too following his game for Georgia.

We have Clarkson (22) in the main squad, Lasisi (21) and McGuire (20) in the academy. Clarkson actually has 18 caps and almost 700 minutes under his belt, a lot more than I thought. Lasisi has the one appearance, none for McGuire.

They’re all very young for tighthead, think we’re missing a bit of talent in between.
