Big challenge for Clarkson coming up against Kebble.

Haven't been following Glasgow at all this season, that side doesn't look very frightening.

No Tuipolotu, Thompson, Wilson, Cummings, Darge or Gray makes it look even less so.

Centre partnership and backrow looks their best combinations.

I'd say Molony fancies a crack at that second row pairing in the lineout too.

Really like the balance of the back row. Good impact off the bench with Jenkins and Baird to come on. I’d be surprised if Kelleher doesn’t remind everyone how good he is and put in a huge performance.

Turner has suddenly become a very important player for us, massive boost for the squad if he can be become one of the reliable guys to step in when the internationals are away.

Brilliant to see Harry back, feels like a huge couple of months ahead for him.

Lock9541 is going to need to check their sources after that team announcement, and maybe not post wild speculation in future 😅

McCarthy got a fairly nasty cut against Chile. He might be out or break glass option.

Yeah. Surprised by that. I thought we would have pretty much that backline but with different numbers on their backs.
Clarkson is clearly ahead of Vakh.
I will allow myself an 'I told you so'.
I'm not saying I agree. I was just saying it appears to be clear what the view of the Leinster and Ireland management is.

Over 16,000 tickets sold according the Leinster website. Crowds this season have been very encouraging.

I thought they might have gone for JOB or Keenan but I guess it was important to get them more recovery time.

Looks like the decision to shift Osbourne was more about Turner.

I'm glad to see that Vahk is straight back into the mix and that we didn't overrely on Ala'alatoa.

He was right in front of us when that happened, it looked like a busted nose not just a cut.

Wow that seems quite big given they'll have their Scottish guys back and we won't have 99% of our Irish guys available.

Having said that, it's probably based on the last time they came over...

Relatively few Glasgow players in the Scottish team so one would expect a tough challenge given the impact of internationals and injuries that Leinster have to manage
The odds usually move once the teams have been announced. That will be interesting to watch.
Since the teams were announced, the bookies have moved from a 16 point to an 18 point handicap. Leinster are 1/12 from 1/10 and Glasgow have moved out to 9/1 fro 17/2. In other words, they are more confident that Leinster will win and by a slightly larger margin.

It's exactly the type of game he needs to develop.

Up against a gnarly Saffer prop in a mid table URC side with good senior support around him from 1-5.

Delighted he has been selected.

That has been the case for quite a while now though. Nothing new in Clarkson getting selected to start ahead of Vakh when both have been available.

Match Preview

Leinster are back after an interesting Autumn season for Ireland.

Ireland won all three games and in doing so made sure they beat the big three of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia in the same year. Yet, aside from about fifteen minutes in the second half of the South Africa game, they didn't actually play that well.

It's still new for a lot of people on this forum, including seasoned posters. Just look at the thread.
But it also is still new. It's essentially this season.

Clarkson started four games and played 260+ minutes last year. Vakh started none and played 103 mins.

The latter was injured for a while, but Clarkson started both games in SA and the Munster Aviva game ahead of him and was selected to bench ahead of him also.

What I was saying above is the team that I personally would pick. I think Hugo was saying likewise.

But anyone keeping a close eye on things would see Clarkson has been ahead in that selection battle since at least the turn of the year.

Great to see Ronan Kelleher and Harry Byrne back in the 23. Hopefully they'll be able to put an injury-hit 2022 behind them and get a run of games to show their worth.

Wonder what Harry said/did to get have the coaches forgive him and get back in the team
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
