It's been a good 15 years since I was in South Africa but make sure you drink plenty of Windhoek while over there - the best lager in the world and the best thing to come out of Namibia imo!

Re: The Quickening 2022
Stormers only got the bonus point try against Glasgow in the 80th minute, we'd be pretty much guaranteed top spot if they missed out on the bonus point.

Re: The Quickening 2022
Top 8 in the league now can't be overtaken. We'll be playing the loser of the Edinburgh v Glasgow game in the quarter-finals, barring a very unlikely set of results.

We'll take that.

Re: The Quickening 2022
As it stands that would be a possible semi at home to the winners of Stormers v Ulster.Quarter-final 1 (QF1) – the Club ranked first in the Standing League Table will play at home against the Club ranked eighth in the Standing League Table. Quarter-final 2 (QF2) – the Club ranked second in the Standing League Table will play at home against the Club ranked seventh in the Standing League Table. Quarter-final 3 (QF3) – the Club ranked third in the Standing League Table will play at home against the Club ranked sixth in the Standing League Table. Quarter-final 4 (QF4)– the Club ranked fourth in the Standing League Table will play at home against the Club ranked fifth in the Standing League Table.
The winners of the quarter-final Matches will proceed to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be knock-out, each played over one Match (subject to clause 5.1, below), and organised as follows:
Semi-final 1 (SF1) - the winner of QF1 versus the winner of QF4. The winner of QF1 will be the ‘home’ Club unless Pro Rugby Championship determines otherwise.
Semi-final 2 (SF2) - the winner of QF2 versus the winner of QF3. The winner of QF2 will be the ‘home’ Club unless Pro Rugby Championship determines otherwise.
Re: The Quickening 2022
QF are
QF1 : 1 v 8
QF2: 2 v 7
QF3: 3 v 6
QF4: 4 v 5
SF (highest seeded team gets home advantage)
SF1: Winner of QF1 v Winner of QF4
SF2: Winner of QF2 v Winner of QF3

Ulster at home to the Sharks on the last weekend. Basically a play-off for a home QFwixfjord wrote: ↑April 30th, 2022, 9:59 pmAs it stands that would be a possible semi at home to the winners of Stormers v Ulster.Quarter-final 1 (QF1) – the Club ranked first in the Standing League Table will play at home against the Club ranked eighth in the Standing League Table. Re: The Quickening 2022
Ospreys play the Bulls and Scarlets play the Stormers on the last weekend. Ospreys have a game in hand against the Dragons to close the gap somewhat.
They’re out of the playoffs but it’s still a big deal with Heineken Cup qualification for the winner of the Welsh Shield.
If Munster lose to us they’ll be hoping to get Ulster, otherwise it’s a trip to SA.

Re: The Quickening 2022
Edinburgh v Glasgow, now moved to Murrayfield, has a lot of stake.
a. Bragging rights
b.The 1872 Cup
c. Avoiding Leinster in Dublin in QF
d. A place in next seasons Heino, loser makes way for a Welsh team, sickener.
Big Game.

Re: The Quickening 2022
Ok not exactly Nostradamus level prediction skills required there.
So. If the Stormers and the Bulls win in Wales and Ulster beat the Sharks in Ravenhill (a decent enough bet) we become judge, jury and executioner as to Munster's home QF.
Cue shouts of "IRFU fix" from Wales if they beat us.
Scottish teams can't get top 4 no matter the score between them and the loser is guaranteed out of the Heino and a game v us in the RDS.
All down to the 4 games mentioned above for the home spots.
Possible to get 3 saffer teams in the top 4 and also possible to get 3 Irish.

Re: The Quickening 2022
The only reason Glasgow head Edinburgh is wins and points scored. They are behind on points difference and their game determines our Q/F opponents.
If guessing, I suspect it will line-up as follows:
Leinster v Edinburgh
Stormers v Glasgow
Sharks v Bulls
Munster v Ulster
I'm only confident about the first of those pairings and certainly the final round will determine a lot. An Ulster win v Sharks would be a huge result for them. Equally if Ospreys or Scarlets can beat their SA opponents, the road ahead would look a lot smoother.

Re: The Quickening 2022
Glasgow and Edinburgh are still in the Challenge Cup. If one of them wins it and is not already qualified for the Heineken Cup, they will get in at the expense of an Irish or SA team.johng wrote: ↑May 1st, 2022, 8:29 amOk not exactly Nostradamus level prediction skills required there.

Leinster used the most players.
Can't remember how many 63?
RTE 2 put up a table near the end, if you still have a recording.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Dunno RTB. Embra are at home in the derby. Ulster in Rhill should have too much for the sharks too.Ruckedtobits wrote: ↑May 1st, 2022, 8:41 am The only reason Glasgow head Edinburgh is wins and points scored. They are behind on points difference and their game determines our Q/F opponents.

Obviously either of those could lose at home but....
It will be interesting to see if the Welsh teams can hold off Saffers with a purpose too.
Ulster v Sharks and Ospreys v Bulls on the Friday night too. So the rest will know what they need.
Re: The Quickening 2022
Interesting....
Do we think Either of them will beat Sarries in the Final though?
