Benetton v Leinster Sat 5 Mar KO 12.55pm Live on RTE2

Post by cormac »

Rory O'Loughlin has recovered from illness and will be available for selection this week.

No mention of the injury that forced off Harry Byrne on Friday.

What's the story with Sam Prendergast and Diarmuid Mangan Mildy?

They’re just sub academy players training with Leinster cuz most of the sub academy players their age are in Irish u20s Camp at the moment. Doesn’t mean much. They’re both u19 so still really young. That Diarmuid Mangan is a terrific player he’s just back from injury. Would’ve started for Ireland u20s but had been out with injury.

What position do they play?

Mangan is a lock/blindside.
Prendergast is a outhalf generally but has played 12 and 15 too.

Both are excellent prospects and are u19 eligible this season.

They both went to Newbridge. They both started on the team as 5th years that knocked Michael’s out of the cup. Would’ve played the final but canceled due to Pandemic

Larmour, JOB & Ross M released.

Line up could be something like:

Dooley, Tracy, Mike, Molony, McCarthy, Rhys, Penny, Deegan, McGrath, Ross, Larmour, ROL, Osborne, TOB, JOB
Cronin, Byrne, Vakh/Clarkson, Murphy, Leavy, McCarthy, Frawley/Harry, A Byrne

Not sure if Harry or Frawley are fit? I assume Hawkshaw would be next in line? Or Tim Corkery?

Bookies have it Benetton 17/1, Leinster 1/18 with a handicap of 21 points.

I'd like to see Leavy and Frawley (if available) start. These guys need game time to get back up to speed if they are to be considered for ERC competition. I'd love to see Frawley & RO'L together in mid-field. Leavy and Penny on flanks with Rhys or Max @ No 8?

Leo might also consider resting 'Big Mike' on the bench and starting Vahk - just in case.

There were some terrible ads around the time of the 2007 World Cup. I vaguely remember Denis Leamy being in a low-budget Elvery's one

Edit:
Found it - "Sorry, force of habit"
Shay Given and Ciarán McDonald were also in it.

That was a classic! I remember my female friends been very appreciative of it at the time.
