That’s the sort of magical thinking we should encourage on this MB!
I might have been right if the Lions scrum half had remembered to put the ball into the scrum Image

At least 3 high tackles/rolls missed by this chap as well, I think he left his Labrador in the airport lounge

Well deserved. Tommy has been terrific. Great to see him injury free.

Joe McCarthy not far behind. Immense.

Our scrum has been a weakness throughout the game.

Really should've gotten the TBP there, lots of sloppiness in second half. Not sure why we were trying to force the offload so much.

TOB & Osborne were really good. Joe McCarthy very impressive too, he's got great athleticism and a bit of bite too.

Dooley had a lovely cameo also.

Lions pack are very solid. Our scrum was properly taken apart all night. They're totally unstructured in attack albeit.

I rate Dooley very highly I don’t understand how he dropped down the pecking order this season after his Greta performances last season. He’s got great hands and the scrum always seems to be tighter when he comes on

I thought McCarthy was superb in the loose. It’s not a bit surprising that the scrum went backwards on his side given his stage of development

Agree, he's a fine player - would rate him way ahead of Byrne

Dooley, Deegan and Penny really added a lot when they came on. Brilliant textbook try saving tackle from O'Brien, moment of the match.

I don’t believe there’s any requirement for the tackler to be on his feet.
13. 3 c in the law book. https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/home

Understandable because the Tackle is covered in Law 14.

Someone phone the agent of their scrum half and see if he is interested in coming North. He was excellent.

Agree 100% - I was venting to the poor fella beside me before the match as to why E Byrne is ranked ahead of Dooley. Dooley is better in scrum, lifting, ruck, tackle, pass, hands and probably odd jobs around the house. No idea how the pecking order persists

Yes and sadly ours were terrible. Just when I thought N McCarthy was showing some form m, he has an absolute stinker

Decision making tonight from players let us down a bit too often. Not just when to offload or go to ground either. Scrum continues to be a bit of a worry.

Sensational cover tackle from Tommy O'Brien, deserved the MotM award for that alone.

Craig Evans is a terrible referee. Missed so many obvious offences and often has the look of someone who's guessing about decisions.

On a point of law, isn't the hooker of the team with the put-in supposed to make an attempt at hooking the ball?

Ref hadn't a clue. It was an enjoyable game despite that. It was good seeing a team putting it up to us at the RDS and by and large we responded well. Our defence was superb for 77 mins. The handling skills of Dooley are Furlongesque. He also has decent footwork. We got to see the outstanding contender for Tackle of the Season and Nugget stepping their 11 before putting in a sweet kick ahead. All in all a good night's work despite the failure to get a TBP

I’ve been bigging him up so it’s probably my fault!

I thought Luke played really well though, much improved.
