Re: Leinster v Ospreys Saturday 19th Feb at 5pm
I need to watch it on tv but thought there was some really good play in increasingly difficult conditions. The good is the continuity, passing accuracy, clear out and lines of running. The bad is dropped balls (weather a mitigante) and white line fever. I thought they could have had more yellow cards and we had two decent shouts at a penalty try. In terms of player development, Osborne and Moloney really good, Harry really good at 12, Penny playing like a pure 7 and JOB looking dangerous but lots of footballing intelligence. Baird needs to be more focused and cut out of forced errors. Great to see the old warrior Healy play so well and the 200 caps man had a great carry. So much to build on. Ok, wine is open, where’s the recording…

Seemed to me that Dunne added a bit of heft to the Leinster scrum, when he came on. Shortly after his appearance we won a scrum peno.

Difficult to exaggerate how poor playing conditions were in the second half. Fast continuity requires sharp passing. Sharp ill-directed passes in wet weather are a nightmare and cause knock-ons.
Ospreys defended their line ferociously and their physical superiority helped prevent 2 / 3 Leinster tries. We really need to develop different options than forward pick-and-drives from 5-8 m out. Grubber with Larmour's acceleration are one option. Dummy scissors with skip pass are another. Both higher risk but likely to be more successful against bigger packs.
A better performance than commentators are giving Leinster credit for. Lots of "new faces" in terms of positions & names: Harry Byrne & Osborne, Martin Moloney, Clarkson, Dunne. Ospreys are a big obstinate team and they were never allowed threaten in attack. They also attempted to slow the game down with lots of "injury breaks" and Andrew Brace seemed intent on picking up on Leinster technical infringements.
Not perfect, but a very welcome 5 points on a wet Saturday evening to go back top of the Table.

Harry Byrne absolutely emptied some lad with a tackle in the last 10, stirring stuff

Did everyone just scroll past this? Is this confirmed or speculation?Lock9541 wrote:Adam Byrne and Rory O’Loughlin are leaving at the end of the season

Martin maloney had another impressive outing, really liked his work rate and if I was disappointed to see josh M go west the sudden impact this lad is having very much eases the pain. Can’t believe Harry was given motm. Of the byrnes Ross seemed to be everywhere and didn’t seem to miss a tackle and absolutely emptied an osprey towards the end of the 2nd half. Penny was superb and our front rows really had a solid impact. Overall ospreys played better than their current form would suggest and while we messed up a lot there is still great development going on

Saw it, no idea how reliable the source is
Re: Leinster v Ospreys Saturday 19th Feb at 5pm
Got it from a very reliable source it’s true. Don’t know which club they’re moving to yet but Leinster didn’t offer them a new contract

After the deliberation, the TMO said to go back to the onfield decision. Maybe that's the protocol? Once the referee had said that he saw it as held up, it could only either be overruled by the TMO as a try or they go with the original (incorrect) decision?Dave Cahill wrote: ↑February 19th, 2022, 7:35 pmAh, yes, gotcha. Thought Baird put in a solid shift without the highlight reels, all good development. At the match, I assumed he was the one who made the first break down the line in the early minutes.
But that was the younger Moloney? He got around the pitch and got at least one turnover, looks promising.

Baird was pretty good. Blowing wind after 60 minutes though, he’s a super athlete no doubt but he’s not used to tough scrummaging
