Munster v Leinster, 26th December 7.35pm - Christmas in Mordor

Post by fourthirtythree »

Moving on from being gutted by the European Cup. We were already worried at some of our players being undercooked, at least Furlong will have had a break, Johnno should play etc. This could be one of the most full bore encounters in some time between us and the cousins.

Bloody Covid permitting of course

I've heard a rumour Jonny's return is not imminent.

We're coming back from a big Covid outbreak so might be down a few players.

We have players who need gametime. I think the priority will be to get game-time for those lads and proper recovery time for internationals.

Munster have everyone back and all fit after their game the weekend so will be able to select a full side barring the long term injuries.

We on the other hand will have to wait for the Photos so we can play "Where's Waldo?" and see what sort of a team we might be able to cobble together.

The Reds go 1up on the first hole I think. Still a long way to go :D

I dunno. Big TV day and both squads could do with a game.

If the Leinster outbreak has continued then we may struggle to get a team.

If Munster are smart they close the terraces which helps them get the attendance down which keeping the ticket price up.

Not much point rescheduling unless they know they can get a full house soon and they know they can get the matches played or they're really stuck.

That's not gonna help Leinsters EPCR appeal case either. I'm sure they'll point to it as evidence that they did the correct thing in pulling the game.

Montpellier are due to play Biarritz away on the 27th Jan, let's just wait and see what kind of 23 they manage to field before we pass judgement on what Leinster should do with their chin.

Don't know yet if it's anyone from the travelling party.

Or they're hoping that the news from Montpellier is better.
They're in a glass house situation at the moment.

Regardless of where the clusters reside etc, I'm glad for public health reasons that this is not going ahead. Pictures of the crowd against Castres sent a chill down my spine. And hopefully it can be rescheduled to a date which allows it to be the lucrative event that it should be. We all know the provinces (especially Munster) need the money.
