Maybe it's my memory playing tricks on me but I remember Leamy as the head-first charging nutter technique of his generation, really only topped by Woody.
Nothing wrong with your memory although Woodie was probably his idol.
I have recollection of a post from a current and long time poster on this forum claiming that Denis only wore a scrum cap to cover his lobotomy scare.

Yup, he was dumber than bread on the pitch - IIRC that comment was made after the incident mentioned earlier in the thread with the 10 metres

Leamy was an outstanding backrower in his pomp. Then the injuries piled up.
He spent the last years of his playing career burdened with a massive reputation but unable to repeat it.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Leamy was a beast in his day. Him, Ferris, Heaslip and Wallace must have been the best choices we've ever had for a back row. Good luck to him in the new appointment.

Don't want the thread to go off topic, but... and SOB surely!

Eric Miller should be in that short list ahead of Him imho.
SOB definitely
Quinlan close.
Ferris SOB and Heaslip to call it.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.
I meant at the same time. All those guys played on the 2009 Grand Slam team which won in Wales. Don't think we're ever going to have 4 guys with that physicality playing at the same time again.
