Marcus Smith was literally playing as a quarterback, he threw 3 forward passes in the last 15 minutes.

Now Munster can’t catch Quinn, Castres are out and Toulouse aren’t drawn against the top team in pool A (currently Racing).

Instead Racing get a gimme against Cardiff, Ulster’s reward if they beat Clermont is 2 games against Toulouse.

Chances have gone up of Connacht having one of their biggest games ever against us. Haven’t figured out how it affects us yet.

If Wasps get 2 points against Munster then Toulouse finish 8th, so Racing aren't off the hook just yet.
Plenty of nail biting still to come for the French big two.
What kind of a points difference would SF need against Connacht to both overtake Cardiff in eight and then Toulouse in seventh.

Northampton V Racing has bit the dust now. Northampton cases so assume 28-0 to Racing

Don't think that effects standings too much as 5 points for Racing wass pretty much expected I would have thought

Now that COVID is "over", can we not just draw a line under this whole thing and start again?

I think at some point it has ceased to be sport?

3 tries for La Rochelle with 33 minutes to go. Have to expect they have another in the tank.

Looks like we drop to 4th.

Glasgow headless. Can’t see them getting back in.

And there's the 4th try.

As it stands we play Connacht. In line for Leicester away in the QF if we both get there.

Okay, the only way I can figure that we can't get Conn is if Wasps win in Thomo tomorrow and Conn lose in Paris. Have I got that right

3 different ways

Lose by over 16 points drops them below Bordeaux.
Wasps win puts them ahead of Connacht
Munster lose without bonus and Connacht get a win bonus (and a few spare points) gets Connacht ahead of Munster.

Thanks ronk! I think Stade can qualify too with a BP win so they should be up for it.

Should be good craic tomorrow so.

I have to say, MonyP needing just 1 point tomorrow to qualify, after what they've put into the competition, is f%~king scandalous

And the irony of that happening is that we'd be rooting for them to beat Leicester.

They have medals to prove they can beat us knock-out rugby. In fact, are they not the team who've beaten us the most in recent years?

They're also playing their best rugby since the Lam days, they're on an upwards curve and they have a point to prove.

More specifically for us they're strong enough up front to live with more powerful teams, they have a really good close in defence when they want to and they live off mistakes.

There's also a new format for the next round which hasn't really been used at this level. Will induce a big aspect of randomness. It's basically a 160 minute match where you change grounds and repick the teams a week later after 80 minutes.

Us v Connacht in the round of 16 then. Second leg at 'home'.

Would be mad, but I wonder might the IRFU try to bring *both* legs to the Aviva?

Two guaranteed 50k+ crowds would be a big boost for all coffers.

The Leinster haters would rail at that saying it is massively biased towards us, but I have to say those would be two games I would really look forward to

One word “no”

Don’t think both teams have that option to do that anyway
No way Connacht giving up taking us to Sportsground…
