Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Will be interesting to see how he gets on over there. He's got a big job on his hands going by the state of their defence last season.
Would be great to see him and McNamara doing well in their new jobs overseas with half an eye on bringing them back at some stage.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish
Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Interesting move. From the outside that looks like a loss because of how highly he's talked about amongst players. Strange to announce it so late too, considering he was in training today.
Hopefully it doesn't leave us in the lurch a bit.

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Leinster created a new coaching role to accommodate his skillset. It will be tough to replace him and the question could well be about whether you even try to go like-for-like.
Best of luck to him (except against us).

Rob Russell training with team today, no sign of Michael Silvester or Aaron O'Sullivan, Paddy Patterson with Munster.
Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Must be the earliest return to pre-season training for Johnny Sexton for many a year!

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Adding those numbers up, that's 49 Squad members and 15 A.N. Others.
Is that enough given the likely international demands not to mention the negative impact that the Lions is likely to have on our resources.
Historically the season after a Lions tour is almost a guaranteed 6Ns win for France.
How do we compare with the other provinces?

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Whats the story with Dan Leavy? Will he be back for the start of next season? If himself and Deegan ( who looks heavier ) get back to where they were it'll be hugely encouraging.

Re: Leinster Squad 21-22
Odd if he turned us down. We have a lot of tightheads but we have 2 Lion tightheads to learn from. Alaalatoa will be gone by the time he's exiting the academy. Panel is small enough with 2 internationals away.
He's a raw player who could do with professional strength and conditioning and training. Leinster is the best place for that and easy to move later if he ends up blocked.
But maybe we're tight for places or he just wanted college in Galway.

It's a no brainer IMO. He's more likely to progress quicker with Connacht to a Pro contract.
