Came here to ask about Adam Byrne. He seems like the forgotten man in many ways, they never really announced that he wasn’t injured anymore, he just stopped showing up in squad updates. I can only assume he is available for selection.

A lot of players injured before the season starts isn’t ideal, Connors, Clarkson, T. O’Brien, Dunne, Kearney, Milne and Leavy all seem like longer term — weeks to months. Hopefully the remainder of the squad can stay healthy enough.

I think we’ve been relatively lucky with our first few games, Glasgow away on the 23rd October likely to be the first proper test imo, so enough time for a few names to recover.

Jaysus even without the SA guys Bulls won't exactly be a walk in the park if they continue their currie cup form! They're playing the final next Sat and have only lost once.

Team includes Hendricks, Goosen, Arno Botha, Coetzee, Jacuqes Du Plessis etc.

I know they’re supposed to be a good team, but honestly, my gut feel is that the South African teams will be uniformly shîte when they travel, and will be very tough to beat at home. I think we’ll hammer them at home.

Makes sense with 3 props unavailable and 2 around.

TH Prop
Michael Alaalatoa(30)
Tadhg Furlong(28/New Ross RFC/Clontarf) - absent due to lions
Andrew Porter(25/St. Andrews/UCD) - injured(foot)
Vakh Abdaladze(25/Coolmine RFC/Clontarf)
Tom Clarkson(21/Blackrock/DUFC) - injured(hamstring)

Not so sure about that.

Bulls are the best of the lot, have the game to play in the NH and will have plenty of tough matches under their belt while we'll be coming in cold. They've got the pack to take us on too.

We'll need to be switched on. This isn't the Southern Kings on a wet night in February!

Dan Leavy back on grass & smiling. Great to see, hopefully no more complications. He has had a rotten run of injuries over the past couple of seasons

Based on those minutes played and recognising the gap before the next (and vital) round of matches in Nov / Dec, the possible selection for Glasgow on Friday could be:

1. Peter Dooley - 30 mins
2. Sean Cronin / James Treacy - 50/55 mins
3. Tagdh Furlong - 56 mins
4. Dev Toner - 80 mins
5. Josh Murphy - 0 mins
6. Dan Leavy - 75 mins
7. Scott Penny - 70 mins
8. Jack Conan - 80 mins
9. Luke McGrath - 132 mins
10. Harry Byrne - 22 mins
12. Conor O'Brien - 66 mins
13. Tommy O'Brien - 23 mins
11. Rob Russell - 110 mins
14. Adam Byrne - 80 mins
15. Jimmy O'Brien - 80 mins

Only McGrath and Russell exceed 80 mins (1 game) and although it will probably not be the selection, it is a clear picture of the challenge facing Leo and his fellow Coaches when trying to give everybody adequate game time to make a decent pitch for selection. Recognising that players like Robbie Henshaw and Jack Dunne have not yet returned and Josh Murphy, in the selection above, has not yet played, it is very evident that game time is Cullen's biggest challenge between now and EPCR games.

I wonder how difficult Leinster will find retaining Rhys Ruddock, Ross Byrne and Max Deegan will be given their international statuses.
