We’ve used 43 players so far this season but the big thing for me is that, of the 43, only two are academy players (we used seven last season)

Are there any academy players banging on the door to get into the squad at the minute? I'm thinking perhaps one of the second rows due to how short for players we are there at the minute.

not really, there is a lack of top end talent in the academy at the moment and some of the most talented are injured.

I think it is inevitable that some guys will move on at the end of the season. The new URC format hasn’t helped Leinster one bit.

Players I wouldn’t like to see leave are Sheehan, Connors, Penny, Frawley and Tommy O’Brien. I think it’s important we keep those five players.

Murray K saying Munster are trying to sign Dan Sheehan and Ciaran Frawley. Not surprising news.

Sheehan makes sense. A lot better than anyone they have on the books really. I’m not worried about Sheehan, think he’ll stay and battle it out with Kelleher.

Frawley is a weird one. He’s probably featuring more than he ever did now for Leinster. I wonder where he sees himself positionally. I’m guessing Munster are thinking of him as a 12, or maybe even 15? He could have a future at 10 for us.
